Using a cursor based display for such a game creates its own problems. You need to redraw every itme that the car moves through each time it passes along a road. This makes it quite difficult if the car is moving in any direction other thn left to right on the screen.

Part 2:
Displaying graphics is basically just the same as displaying text. But instead of using nLine and nChar, you need to calculate the offset from the top and left of the image. So passing the height and the width of the image to SetScrollRange will give you the values to use in deciding where to paint from.

As to your last request, I don't think my code will help as it is text based. Maybe if you add your WM_PAINT handler code to the question I can make some comments that would be more appropriate.

Sorry, I guess my description was not clear. I mean that each time the paint event is called, it uses the scroll information to calculate whivch line of data, and which character in that line, to start with. So the first such characgter displays at point 0, 0. I always visualise this by taking a piece of paper with a square hole in it, and holding it over some printed text. So wherever you move the hole, you always see text starting in the top left corner.

The type of variable pVpstr does not matter. The point is that it points to the lines of text that need to be displayed. I should have mentioned that this code is used to display text files with up, down, left and right scrolling enabled.

I will answer the first two questions as they are fairly easy:
1. I don't use ScrollWindow as in this sample i am displaying simple text. So each time WM_PAINT is called I repaint the entire Window starting at the point in the data that needs displaying. So if the page size is calculate as 20 lines and the scroll was caused by PAGE_DOWN I need to skip lines 1 to 20 and start by displaying line 21 of the text and beyond, always stopping when I hit the bottom of the display area.

2. The pointer pVpstr is a pointer to a vector that contains the lines of text to be displayed. Its size method returns the number of lines. So passing that value and the height of the display area to SetScrollRange returns the position in the data at which to start.

I need to think a bit more about the other queries.

But what you are referring to are not arrays, they are strings. You have a single array of QStringList items. And each list contains a number of strings. You should not do that in WM_CREATE. As I have mentioned in a number of your other questions, you should do all screen displaying code in your WM_PAINT handler. And the size of the client window is returned in the PAINTSTRUCT structure after the call to BeginPaint, so you have all the relevant information to paint your client area. I am not sure why you need the dimensions of the scren or a bitmap of that size.

I have used your code in my test and it works the same. The size values increase as the size of the selected font increases. You need to show the actual values that are returned in the size varaible when you run your code.

You cannot do that with the PRINTDLG structure and its associated system call. You need to use the PRINTDLGEXA structure (commdlg.h) - Win32 apps | Microsoft Learn[^] and the PrintDlgEx function (Windows) | Microsoft Learn[^]. You then need to provide enough elements in the PRINTDLGEX.lpPageRanges array for the number of separate sets that the user may choose.

No, you return the status values in pResult, as you are already doing. But you need to ensure you return the correct notifications for the framework to process the control according to your settings, as I specified in my original post above.
