what's the functionality behind chating?with example.I got code for this using ajax,but i cann't understand some functionality like 'UpdateUser()',Isempty() etc .
And also i would like to store the messages between two people in an xml file. please help me

I'm not sure what you're asking. Your website needs to identify who is chatting to who, send messages between those two people, probably needs AJAX otherwise it will be useless. If you want to write one, why not search the site for examples ?

If you can't understand the article, there's a forum provided under the article to ask the author, but the overall impression I have is that you need to read some books on ASP.NET, and on AJAX, in order to understand the tools you're trying to use. I doubt any reply you get here will make up for that.
