what has this to do with .net?

Project Management in general is growing quickly as a field.

Enterprise Project Management, which effectively is the management of cummulative set of projects, is also growing as a result as more and more organizations are following this model of maintaining strict governance over their projects and over their portfolios of projects (or groups of related projects).

As such my general answer would be yes, this would be a wise career choice.

I would start by becoming PMP certified and/or Prince 2 certified. The Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is widely accepted in North America and is growing in acceptance around the world. I have heard of countries in Africa where the government has implemented (or said they were going to implement) a requirement of having a PMP oversee all projects in order to ensure a reduction in bribery and other corruption (a PMP designation cannot be kept if you are found to have accepted a bribe or been unethical in any way).

Prince 2, an open source model for Project Management is also a great model to follow but may have less benefit in the long term as people will be able to get it and never loose it as there is no governing body.

Hope that gives you enough information. If you have specific questions, feel free to ask. As a PMP I am encouraged to always give back to the community and provide information about the designation whenever possible.

Probably this is not the best place to ask carrier related questions. This is basically for technical questions. I do not have much idea about carrier as ERP consultant. So I do not have exact answer for your question. In general if you have passion for your field, you can enjoy the work and you are confident about you skill set go for it. If you are good at what you do you always have opportunities otherwise it is not going help you whatever domain you choose. Do not choose field only because it can give you job in certain company, in long run you should also be satisfied and happy doing your work , only then you can work effectively.
