Can I prevent a word being hyperlinked by a Javascript routine

Hi
All I need to learn is how to select text so that the selected text will not be used to hyperlink to by some javascript routine eg. Amazon's advert generator. I have used <!> text <!> which works for IE7 but not IE8.

Do you mean those things that search a page of text and wrap words in pop-up ads?

Why not try inserting a pair of tags inside a word you want to preserve:

eg: MySacredWord -> My<tag></tag>SacredWord
