Developers and Managers alike should find some truth in this article. Great Job!

The developer means: It must be 90% complete by now. I have the whole architecture done, I have thrown in lots of [extra] design patterns, so it must be well designed. The details should take only a couple weeks.
The inexperienced manager hears: It is 90% complete! Great!
The experienced manager hears: It is 10% complete.
Loved your parody!

Renegade programmers behave that way, as do incompetent managers.
Real professionals are team players because nobody has to prove anything to anybody. They all know in which direction to paddle.

Thats certainly the way we would like it, but such a situation while not absolutely rare is not very common either and in fact the minority. Professional programmer or not, most teams are not very cohesive and politics, egos, and other enter. They dont make it as far as I've shown here, but this was a parody.
If I were to take a poll here of how many developers thought their managers were incompetent, Im betting the numbers would be high. Maybe they are incompetent, maybe they arent, but if the developers *think* they are that means they certainly arent paddling all in stroke.
Many teams are like government offices - and operate very much so internally, and often externally.

I tried to parody both developers and managers. But from watching the voting thats exactly whats happening, people are voting worst, or best with very little deviation.
I hadnt thought about it splitting across management / developer lines, thats an interesting thought.

That is so true. Some times the truth, even when not actually good, can still be funny.

Very cool and nice. You get my five.
Unfortunately this corresponds to the truth. I can understand these statements daily. And what is important at this point. I am a developer.
I think the problem is, that no manager will one day read this article. So I will send/post/copy this article to all guys from other side of life.

Im a developer too, who has often had to do management as well. But as a consultant I've also had to deal with a lot of managers and certainly developers can often be the problem in a project, its very common for a manager to be the problem as well.

Oh some will - I tried to take liberties with both management and developers in hopes that both parties will realize what they themselves are sometimes like.
