Sending Email From JavaScript using OutLook Automation

By , 22 May 2006

Introduction

Sometimes we have very specific requirements for sending emails. I had faced the same problem. Our client wanted to send email by only using Outlook 2003. The Office 2003 was installed only on the client machine, so I had to create a client side code to send an email through Outlook Express 2003. I could easily send email with ASP.NET and SMTP protocol, but the client wanted to use Outlook 2003 to send an email, which inspired me to write the following code. The code is written in JavaScript and ASP.NET.

QuestionHow could I change the name of the attachment? PinmemberRidwan Habbal18-Feb-09 23:31
Hi,

Thanks for your input. I have a small problem. I'm trying to email dynamically generated charts. The url is a url to servlet, something like: http://myipAddress:8081/warrantyintelligence2/DisplayChart?filename=public-jfreechart-31617.png[^]
The problem is that the attachment has always title: DisplayChart. I want to change it to be something with extension to make it easy to users to open it, since the end user of my application is not quite familiar with such things and might consider it as a bug.

Thanks for help!
