Introduction

Usually when registering controls it is necessary to use RegSvr32.

I have found this can be a pain to use from the command line, so I have developed a Windows based application to do the same job.

Simply browse for the OCX or DLL and select Register or Unregister.

Copy and paste this in a new text document with .reg extension and add it to the registry. When you right click a .dll, .exe, or .ocx file, you'll have two more menu options: Register, Unregister (for exe RegServer and UnregServer also).

I solved this problem years ago by simply adding a shortcut to regsvr32.exe in my SendTo folder. Of course, I also added a shortcut for Unregister (same exe, different command-line). -> To (un)register a module, I find it in Explorer, then right-click it, then choose '(Un)Register' in the SendTo menu. As simple as that... HTH, Serge.

This little .REG file adds a "Dependencies","Register Server" and "Unregister Server" context menu entry for .DLL files (if you want it to work with other file types like for example OCX, replace "dllfile" with "ocxfile" and so on).

I have also used shortcuts to solve this problem as well. The idea behind this is avoid using shortcuts and simply locate the file you want to register or unregister. Especially good when you are trying to test a solution which uses several components. You could even send it to a customer and allow them to unregister and register any updated controls that are developed.
