The guy promisses that the tool will stay non-commercial.
So what ?
Now you have to pay for it.

Hello !
I have just a small problem to install Registry Explorer on my XP Pro.
The installation process stops immediatly.
Have you got any idea, any solution about it ?
Thank you for replying...

I installed 1.1 from the codeproject site. It's a great tool. There are a couple of apparent bugs in the way it behaves, but before I mention them, I'd like to see if they've been fixed in the newest version. I saw reference to 1.3 in a few threads. Can you post it on the codeproject site or provide a link to where it can be downloaded? I'd also like to echo a few of the other threads and say that the source code would be great. I'd like to understand how some of the explorer extentions work, and it would be helpful to have this as a working example.
Great Work!

For the latest version, see http://www.regxplor.com or http://www.whirlingdervishes.com.
Regisry Explorer has now become the base of a toolkit (wizard + library) to create namespace extensions, with many more features than Registry Explorer. Check out http://www.whirlingdervishes.com/nselib.

No find control in the edit menu? Is there such a control located elsewhere that I'm not seeing?

This little program ROCKS! I've sent it to all of our deverlopers.
Have you tested on WinXP? I've had trouble getting it to run on XP... when you try to click on the registry icon, the explorer window simply disappears... ??

The latest version (1.3) works on Windows XP, but it has not been tested so much. I didn't get any compl;aints about it not working so i guess it must be allright.
Versions prior to that will make explorer crahs.

I'm afraid that I've encountered problems, so I don't think the problem is solved!

A few questions though:
How did you get the performance? I had a go at a similar project but gave up when displaying the contents of CLSID took a good 20 seconds!
Do you find that you get your ShellFolder object created and destroyed about 8 times before the namespace view gets displayed? We have a namespace extension that has takes a big performance hit to retrieve the objects to display, so this is a big problem for us.
Does BindToObject get called with an unidentified CLSID {10DF43C8-1DBE-11D3-8B34-006097DF5BD4}? If so, any ideas what it is?

Steps to reproduce:
Open registry explorer in one window and explore into registry explorer in another window so that you have two open windows of the same folder. Adding a key in one window doesn't cause the other window to display the newly created key. If you remove a key from one window the other window handles the change correctly.

C.

One day the source code will be available. However for the moment it needs some "cleaning up" first.
I'm willing to give out the source code as is on request. But this will be a version that you probably can't even get compiled on your computer.

I would like to see the source in the condition that you have metioned it is. I like to know how you have registered the new reg:// URL in Windows/Internet Explorer.
Thanks

Hello,
you wrote the source will be available. I would be very keen for it, because I'll have to write a shell extension.

Hi,
I'm interested in providing a web view to my namespace extension. Could you provide some guidelines or assistance? We spoke some months back about this.

C.
