Check the Lenovo site or search for it.

I was cursing the preloaded crud on a couple of these that I purchased in Australia. It wasn't until I needed to reimage one (using the included Lenovo Recovery) that I realised that you could uncheck a whole bunch of crud to be (not) included in the initial image.
So theres my tip of the day if you happen to buy one of these. Hit the Lenovo Care button on your very first boot, and do the wipe to factory defaults and uncheck all the crud that goes on. You'll only have a couple of things to remove - password manager I think, and possibly the hotkeys app.

Hello, I read all posts about N100 installation with vista OEM version.
I experienced some troubles too. Unhappy with pre-loaded drivers, config etc, I installed Vista Business OEM supplied (I said SUPPLIED, not bought)with my N100. I installed a fresh Vista business and now I'm very happy. My N100 is faster than the pre-loaded one but I must explain I experienced (and still experiencing) problems...
First, the big one, was Wifi Intel 3945abg driver that saw "60%" signal even if I was next to the router.... Solved with new Intel Driver (last days) you can find on Intel Site (not yet lenovo)
Another bug with Power management using this intel driver and Thinkvantage Acess Connection is when you use "prolongated standby", when starting from this mode, vista PM parameters changes automatically to maximum powersaving, so wifi connection is set as it and I have to re-set it to maximum performance to have a perfect wifi link. I don't know if this bug come from intel driver or ThinkVantage Acess Connection software but it affects really wifi link. (Support answers that thinkvantage Access Connection v4.32 will solve this bug...)
Now, about Sofetx Omnipass software v5. When preloaded, It works fine.We can't find it on lenovo support site, that's true, and Lenovo doesn't supply it as a "exe" in recovery dvd's. Thinkvantage version (ibm site) doesn't work with authentec fingerprint reader, that's written in the comments.(v5.6), it's a upek software (protector QL doesn't support this fingerprint). By testing trial version on softex site (v5.00.27) with authentec plugin, I experienced "opvapp.exe" error. Authentication works well, this error comes after authentication and during vista login loading. "opvapp.exe" loads itself 2 times (and appears in console management 2 times), but it doesn't affect vista login. I think Lenovo modify authentec plugin (how?) to work well with N100. I tested different Authentec fingerprint drivers (v5.00.19 original, v5.00.26) but it's the same result.
I have a little request, if someone can send me its N100 softex Omnipass installation directory (preloaded one) to see some things and have some tests on my N100, it will nice ! If you have questions about my installation experience, you can mail me. Best regards, EclektikLP.

David,
If you download the latest hardware manual pdf from the lenovo support page,
you will find the Windows Vista Business recovery DVD P/N as "43T7560". You're right that
the recovery dvd MAY only restore an image of the drive. Microsoft implemented new rules with OEMs
that their recovery dvd's have to key with the bios of the machine so that people don't use them to pirate
the OS on other machines. However, Lenovo has freedom to implement the recovery how they see fit.
I'm surprised you're bought the Vista OEM etc, omnipass etc. without getting the answer from the horse's mouth
Lenovo, before you bought the stuff. You're operating on conjecture and assumption without checking first.

Yeah David, I'm curious which model n100 you have with respect to the display resolution and whether this uses the onboard intel
945gm graphics or has an outboard card. As far as battery life, if you have the model with the built-in webcam, you may not realize that the default installation may have the webcam running off the internal usb bus all the time, whether you are using and viewing it or not. Since the cam can consume 500mW from the usb, I found it to significantly shorten my battery life.
In my Xp oem installation, the cam is visible and running in the device manager. However, if you reinstall the driver software
from the SWTOOLS folder, the system tray now contains an icon for the camera from which you can disable it at will.
Disabling it signficantly improves the battery life while operating on battery.

Good point.
I got mine without the webcam, largely to avoid the battery drain that most webcams cause. I'm using the onboard graphics chip. But I don't really know about battery life yet, since most of my use has been at my desk, or with an airplane adapter.

John,
That driver is for the authentec fingerprint reader, not for the OmniPass software that
uses the fingerprint reader.
If the n100 is similar to the one I have that had winXp built in, the OmniPass software IS NOT IN A SEPERATE PARTITION,
rather it is in the default C drive folder "SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\FPRA". In fact all the oem 3rd party and the lenovo software installed in the machine should be contained in 3 folders on the C drive, "DRIVERS, SWSHARE, AND SWTOOLS"
So if David deleted his original C drive content without backing it up (bad idea), he no longer has it.
Since the laptop is under waranty, I'm sure lenovo would have sent him another copy of the Softex Omnipass Version 5
he deleted from the SWTOOLS folder, had he requested it from technical support.
In addition, the field manual should have a part number for a vista oem cd/dvd. (There is one for winxp, if you look at the repair manual posted on lenovo's support). I believe that Microsoft mandates that one can request a physical copy of the oem media that goes with the computer, though it will only work on that computer. Ask Lenovo support to send one.

Good information. I'll take a look at my backup of the factory install and see what's there.
My experience regarding OEM disks has been rather different from yours. I have found that what I can get from the manufacturer is a 'recovery disk', which reloads the factory install, including the manufacturer's crapware. I used to be able to get a true Windows OEM disk directly from Microsoft for $35 or so, if the computer manufacturer didn't provide one. But MS apparently stopped doing that around the time Windows XP came out.

Nope--tried it. The N100 uses a different reader; it requires OmniPass.

The OmniPass software has got to be on the original install. I don't know what folders they label it now, but Lenovo is a stickler for including everything you got in the laptop being available for an install. I would not hesitiate to call Lenovo tech support (not customer support) for information. Not every tech is as knowledgeable as the other, but you can insist they ask someone else.
As you look through the drivers folders look for a file called setup.1st or setup.log. Opening it in notepad should have some reference to "OmniPass", then you will know you have the right folder. Running setup.exe in that folder will confim what software it is installing.
