I've seen to many implementations of the MenuBar done in MFC, they all come from the same unique source just look at the name MenuBar.cpp a few lines modified here and there.
Im sick of these mfc implmentations, it's not fun any more.

Benjamino, dude, you really make a mistake thinking that this site is for fun. We would all appreciate you kindness if you start thinking of where you are. If you're "sick" (and seems that's true), call a physician, and [please] don't post messages. Reimplementations/modifications of MenuBar (or whatever) with additional features are always welcome, I don't see any problems if author is listed somewhere in the source code. I would like to use this code after the beta version is tested, but author does not respond anymore... was he hurt by you blaming him in something that you don't understand?

I use C# now and create customer toolbar and menu dialog now. it is easy but it doesn't seem so clever and beautiful.
all you need to do is to override the drawing items or owner draw control yourself.

Hello,
Do you know of an web article describing how somebody can imitate the painting of the highlighted menu items background?
1. highlighted menu items in normal applications running on Microsoft Vista (e.g NotePad ) have a nice blue background
2. highlighted menu items in Office 2007 (on Windows XP and Windows Vista, doesn't matter, the menu looks the same) have a nice "reflecting light" orange gradient.
By reading various articles, I've seen two approaches:
- Use themes API functions like DrawThemeBackground(). Is this possible for menus ?
Or
- Use gradient API functions like GradientFill() with GRADIENT_FILL_RECT_V?
In this case, by applying this function twice with different limiting colors for the first half and the second half of the button would produce something aproximating the "reflecting light" gradient we are seeing in Office 2007)
I would like to know how the Microsoft programmers implemented these menus.
Thanks a lot.

I got this line code that has a resource leak,
m_hMenu = ::LoadMenu(AfxGetInstanceHandle(), MAKEINTRESOURCE(nIDResource));
In BOOL CXPMenuBar::LoadMenuBar(UINT nIDResource)
Any ideas?

Hi. This was really a awesome & yet very useful piece of code and I think we are all waiting for it
When do you expect to ship the release, even without all features ?
Thanks in advance for keeping us updated with latest information from your work

Hi again! AWESOME work, especially for a free library, coz with prof-UIS or BCGControlBar you have to pay for hundreds of (usefull) classes even if you need only Menu+Toolbar+statusBar. Very nice work !!!
My current software has OfficeXP style implemented and for the new release under developement, I'd like to include your library.
When will it be ready and usable not as a Beta ? Personnaly I don't need skins, I only from Menus, Statusbar and toolbars. Do you recommended take your current release of this code ??
Thanks for your reply.

The current code has a lot of errors, and may crash your program, also If you only need toolbars, menus, and statusbar, I can remove some features and leave only those with the classic, Office xp and Office 2003 included.

Yes, that's kind of you, but I also need toolbar/menu customize option, so I guess we're nearly the whole thing, no ?
If you can deliver a "light" release of your library with these interface controls, that's fine to me.
But my software already runs with XP-Style so there's no rush, I can also wait and implement your library in a further release.
When do you think release 1 will be available ?
Well, I don't know really, but I can make two versions, one with the basic interfaces, menu, toolbar customization, flat menus and shadows, but the "Show content while dragging" won't be available in that version
What do you call the "Show content while dragging" ?
Again like I said, my application already has Office XP-Style so it's already very kind of you of sharing this wonderfull code with the developer community, I don't want to push you to make two versions and more work. It's really up to you But I'm really interested in using it
The "Show content while dragging" is for the toolbars and the menubar, it doesn't show a rectangle when you're moving it, check my demo, and you'll see what I mean, and making two versions is not hard, I just have to remove some things because alsmost all the basic features are completed, and very stable, don't worry about that
Ok, it's up to you Maybe you can deliver a release 1.0 with only basic features, which will leave you more time to finish the other things, and when you're ready, ship release 1.5 with all features ?
