Copyed the dll into C:\Documents and Settings\name\My Documents\todolist_exe
XP SP3 - Laptop
Runs the application but when -activated from ToDoList's [Tools->Calendar] menu item, it closes the ToDoList application.
Thank you for your time,

I notice that with ToDoList 6.1.b2 the Calendar can no longer be minimized. Also it does not take you to the task in TDL if you double click a Calendar entry. I hope that this will be fixed.

as you can c from the above screen capture
the font is nearly impossible to read.
actually, TO read any chinese character smaller than 9pix on screen is always a hard thing.
can u kindly change the fonts size to 9 or 10 or just make the font size customizable anyway
It will be great appreciated if you can help me with this.
I have ever dreamed such an plugin for a long time.
This plugin can not be better if u can get it's font size correct for chinese character.

I don't think daemon is updating this code anymore, but is anyone competent enough to add a print feature to his existing code? That is one critically lacking feature that would make is so much more useful.

Hi,
I know you're basically done with great plug-in for TDL.
Since dan.g now added Start time and Due Time as well as Completed time in 6.0a2. Having the ability to see these times in the Calendar would've been fantastic.
Would've been a great time management tool.
Anyway.. just a thought.
Thanks.

Hello,
When I have discovered Todolist, I was really happy to see the calendar feature.
But I realize that I don't really use it, because I have a lot of tasks, and in the calendar view there are too much tasks. It is often unreadable.
In the GTD (Get Things Done) method, the calendar should shows only the real importants events/dates. And indeed, even if my tasks have start and/or due dates, some of them doesn't need to be displayed in the calendar.
So would it possible to have in todolist a new column (or new task field ?) 'calendar flag task', which enable (or not) to see the task in the calendar ?
Of course when a task is created this flag is on.
What do you think about this idea ?
I have ask to Dan, he agree with the priniple, but he don't want to add a specific plugin field, and he tolds me to post a message ont this forum.
I think this new feature would help a lot in order to really use the calendar.
Sorry for my english.
Kind regards

Hi,
I just shortly got to know TDL and the calender plugin. I like it alot, as I nearly perfectly serves my needs. However, there is one feature I am currently missing:
Is there a way to show the estimated or actually used time of a task within the calender, meaning if I esimate a task with 3 day I would like to se 3 days ocupied in the calender.
Best Regards
Stephan

It would be very useful if TDL Calendar could show more than one project in a single calendar.
For instance, i could see my tasks for this week without having to open a project a time. This way, i can plan tasks much better.

I currently use 3 monitors with my main computer at home, and use a laptop for when I'm travelling. I just copy my .tdl files back and forth for synchronization. But this is proving to be problematic, since I have my ToDoList and calendar on my rightmost monitor at home.
The calendar's window position seems to be saved in the .tdl file, so when I open the .tdl on my laptop, I can't get the calendar window to show, since it tries to open on coordinates corresponding to something like x = 1924, y =0, which is out of boundary on my 1280x800 laptop. And since the calendar isn't a separate window, I cannot press Alt+Space, M to move it manually either. Hence there is no way for me to see the calendar on my laptop at all. The only thing I can do is open the .tdl on my main PC at home, open the calendar, move it to my primary monitor, close the calendar window, save the .tdl and copy the new file to my laptop.
Would it be possible to get the calendar window to be centered on the primary monitor if it is opened "out of boundary", like the main ToDoList window does? Or just some kind of hotkey for "Reset position" (so I can press that even though I can't see the actual window)?

Hi there,
the calendarplugin does not work in the latest version of TodoList.
I extracted it into the Todolistdirectory, but it does not show up in the menu.
I have already reinstalled TodoList from scratch, but that did not work either!
Can you help to get it to work?
Sincerely, Martin

Hi,
This view is agreat enhancement for teh To Do list which is a wonderfull tool.
If you are still working on it, it would be great if you could integrate the week number as well as the following options :
1)StartFromMonday
If set to 1 the week will start from Monday (otherwise it's started from Sunday). This is automatically set according to your locale when Rainlendar is started the first time.
2)Week1HasJanuary1st
If set to 1 the week 1 is the one that has January 1st. Otherwise its the one that has the year's first Thursday. This is automatically set according to your locale when Rainlendar is started the first time.
3)WeekNumberDelta
This is an offset value for the week numbers. You can adjust the week 1 with this. Also negative numbers can be used.
Tks in advance for your help,
Emat

Hi
I know this is frozen, but if it ever thaws...
It would be really helpful if it were possible to have the calendar display everything from ALL open projects and not just the current project as it does at the moment.
I'm just starting to use todolist and I was going to set things up split into various projects but then realise if I want to use the calendar plug-in for an overview of what I have coming up, I have to put everything into a single project (or manually go through each project and open up the calendar view and check them one by one).
Hope that makes sense and thanks for the work you've put in so far.

I like the calendar and in my opinion is essential in the ToDoList sw.
I'm wonder if is possible to see in the week-view (or in a new day-view) the task with the "duration time": I'd like to see houres of the day and a bar with the time assigned to a task (see below an example of task: "06:30-08:00 web site refresh"
06:00
06:30 !-web site refresh-!

Dear Calendar users
I want to let you know that the current version of the Calendar plugin (1.0) is probably the last one (for the foreseeable future anyway). Due to many other commitments I regrettably no longer have the spare time to devote to it.
The only exceptions to this are:
a) someone finds a show-stopper (post here)
b) someone sends me a patch for a new feature (email in my sig)
c) any major requests from Dan himself. e.g. to support some new plugin architecture or something
I will continue to frequent this forum and the TDL forum, so feel free to still leave comments, bugs or requests.
Who knows, I might win the lottery one day, quit my job and get bored after 12mths
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this mini-project in whichever way, in the last year. Especially Dan, he tha man.
I hope someone one day uses this article to make another plugin for TDL.
Cheers

Would it perhaps be possible to put some font options in the calendar plugin? I'd really like to get rid of the bold weight.
I also wish for some kind of word wrap. (Perhaps with indent?)
And last but definitely not least, the ability to choose whether weeks start on Monday or Sunday would make this plugin a lot more neat. : )
Thanks for your time.

Hi, I'm using TDL 5.6.6 and your June 2008 Calendar (Windows XP SP2). I extracted the CalendarExt.dll into my ToDoList directory, and have reopened ToDoList several times. There is no calendar icon and the 3rd party plugins on the tools menu is still grayed out. What's next to try?

Love LOVE the calendar.
But my start dates are often random, simply when I created the list - which half the time isn't relevant. I have a million lists (doesn't everyone) so what I'd like to do is only see when things were due vs when they started.
I appreciate that some might have Start as an important part of their process, so by all means leave the option for kickoff. But what really gets my heart racing are deadlines - and I want to see 'em.
(and ideally across task lists, but I know you spoke about this elsewhere)
Thanks for the consideration!

Hello !
Thank you for this very much appreciated plugin.
Could it be possible to have the calendar either as a tab (like a project) and, if possible, to be able to switch from tab to independant windows as it is now.
Thank you.

Hi--I just downloaded the calendar and extracted it to the TodoList directory in the program files on my computer. When I tried to open it, I got to the "open with" dialog box, clicked "browse" to get to the program file list, selected ToDoList, and clicked "open", but that got me back to the "open with" box, and the calendar was not opened. I opened ToDolist and clicked "Tools" but didn't see "calendar" as a menu item. Please advise what I need to do to get the calendar to work. Many thanks!
P.S.: Does the calendar have a day view and a week view, and can the calendar be used as a scheduler--i.e., can you add/remove/change the tasks and dates/times from your ToDoList tasklist as displayed in the calendar to schedule them in daily timetables? Thank you for answering my questions.
Sincerely,
R. Sance

Hi D3m0n,
I love your calendar plug-in for .dan.g.'s ToDoList!
Unfortunately, I am having a problem getting the calendar plug-in to work with ToDoList 5.6.b3 (Beta). When I click on the calendar icon, the calendar window does not appear although ToDoList's main window becomes deselected.
Any thoughts/suggestions on what's happening? Your help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Jp

Hi, D3m0n, I’ve posted the same thing onto dan.g feature request list as I wasn’t sure which way is the best to get these features implemented. So here they are:
1. Dock calendar to the left, right top or bottom, under the notes or next to task properties edit pane, might even have a separate tab, next to ‘task list’ and ‘task tree’ for say ‘task schedule’
2. Allow selecting what is shown on the calendar. At the moment by default the task list on the start date of the task is displayed. I don’t really need it, but there is no way to hide it. Should options like:
a. show tasks on start date
b. show tasks on due date
c. show tasks on complete date (with option not to show completed tasks as already present)
d. show tasks on alert / appointment date. I.e. show alerts on calendar
e. use the same colours as in task list
f. make it possible to configure your own calendar views like: ‘alerts only’, that would show dates for alerts only or ‘start and due’ that would show tasks’ start dates and due dates and then add a button over the calendar for quick access. Like a task filter really, but for calendar.
3. Single day view where tasks and alerts are displayed in half hour based grid view. Similar to Outlook or Mozilla Lightning or LotusNotes etc.
4. Show tasks and alerts of all open tasklists, not only active task list.
5. Set-up an alert in a calendar view. I mean, right click or activate the date you want an alert to go off, then right click or click a button to set up an alert, all you have to select is the exact time the alert has to go off as the date is already filled in.
P.S. I know other people have already requested some of the features and some of them are not possible to implement as yet, but just in case it becomes possible, I'm leting you know we want them

In the same way that TDL can search across all open TDL files, it would be great to have the option display tasks across all open TDL files.
Thoughts?

Probably not a small effort but if this awesome TDL add-on could do as title suggests, it would be killer!
If you could highlight multiple Calendar tasks and batch modify start/due dates, beyond killer. Alternately, if there was a way to highlight multiple tasks in Calendar and return to TDL with those tasks highlighted, you could use TDL to batch modify.
Thoughts?

Hi
I love this application. Do you have any plans to develop a sidebar gadget for it under VISTA ?
I am getting an error message that one of my tasklists cannot be opened because it contains "malformed XML that the MSMXL component could not interpret"
please advise me further.
Also would it be possible to have colour for each catergory like in Outlook 2007 ? So I could assign all "business" category tasks a certain colour ?
Thanks

If a task has a start and an end date it could be useful if both of the parts were selected when one is clicked on,
not sure if this is feasable or not but just a suggestion.
also something to think about is indicating the completed date for a task and whether it was completed before or after its due date.
I have seen start time mentioned and there was discussions about implementing it, why not use a system similar to outlook where if view by week or day is selected the box's will be time divided?
Cheers,
Keep up the good work

Hi d3m0n,
Really great add-on, Thanks!
Do you have on your enhancements list any plans to copy a day's tasks to clipboard If not, here's why I'm requesting it:
Every morning, I create a quick list of what tasks need doing. I've been using the TDL filter (show...) to help with this, but it only filters by Due date, not start date. As your add-on shows tasks by start/due dates, to be able to copy the daily tasks would be awesome. Thx. in advance for your consideration.

The escape key out of calendar works when working straight from its opening from todolist. But when I switch to other chores (Word, mail), then back to todolist with the modal calendar, then escape don't work anymore.
Very minor annoyance.

Howdy, first off, great little add-on. Well done, great programming complexity in a small, concise DLL.
Now, I just can't stand (sorry) the green entries, that are is seems the start date based on the last modified/creation date of a task. (Line 97 of source BigCalendarTask.cpp).
I do understand that some may want the start/end picture, but most don't I think. I'm seldom interested when I look at a calendar at last modified date, only ever in the milestones, in this case due date.
But horses for courses, my only request here is an option to have this off/on, but default would be not, by far.
It bugs me enough that for now, I resolved to download sources and do it myself.
Great again, this is fun!...

I just downloaded the new calendar and when I viewed 4 different tooltips in a row the calendar crashed along with the todolist. I tried it several times with the same results.
1. Start ToDoList
2. Open Calendar from the tools menu
3. Switch calendar to only show 2 weeks.
4. Now just hoover over several items and the calendar letting the notes show up and it crashes along with the todolist.
5. I think maybe what is happening is that when I set the weeks to just 2 weeks that the todolist is sending more tool tips then the calendar has allocated and crashes some array. But only a guess. I dont get the crashing when it is in its default state with 4 weeks.

Hi, This is a great addition to the ToDoList.
I had a couple of requests,
1. Can the tooltips to tasks in calendar be made same as those on the ToDoList. That is, can we see Task,Comments,Priority, Time Spent and Last Modified all on the tooltip? This will help, not having to switch between the calendar and main todo list to see details of each task.
2. If Priority colors could somehow be repeated in calendar OR due tasks on a day be ordered priority-wise followed by other tasks. This would help to figure-out which task needs immediate attention among the due tasks on the day (Nicely highlighted with a red band).
3. Can we make all tasks that start on a day and end on a later day be displayed on all the days in between? This may not be wanted always, so an option to turn this on/off may be better. This will help to clearly identify the tasks on hand on a day, since the in between days currently appear empty and may be mistaken as free days while planning.
Above are my wishes. I will be happy to hear what you feel about them.
Once again, great work and many thanks for making it available to all.

Usually I hide the 'Mini Calendar'.
But then, I am missing the very useful 'Today' button which is only accessible if the 'Mini Calendar' is shown.
Would it be possible to place the 'Today' button in the menu bar, next to the 'View' entry, or at least define a hotkey for the 'Today' jumping-function?
Thanks, Klaus

Hey,
ToDoList was recommended to me by a friend and, being a great tool, I found your plug-in an essential help using it. Really great job!
[Request]
So the suggestion I have is to have, on a daily basis, the tasks that were completed that day, since the completed date not always corresponds to the Due Date.
The idea is to have a "daily report" of the work done.
Keep up the great work,
Regards,

Great plugin for a great app!
Not sure if this was what slavfund meant, but recurrences of a given task are not reflected in the calendar, only the start and due dates.

First of all: thank you for this very useful add-on !
I am using a 1920x1200 display resolution, and the font for the week days/day-of-the-month/months become very small. The fonts for the menu and the mini calendar, however, are easily readable.
Any chance to define the font size as being the minimum size of the font used for the menu or the mini calendar?
