Around Me

Introduction

Around Me is my submission for App Innovation Contest. This application uses ultrabook's GPS sensor to find your location and shows historic places, events, shows, hospitals near you. It also pulls tweets, facebook updates from your friends near you.

Background 

I move around places very often. And when I do, I want to look out what's happening near me and meet friends, go out and find new places. It was very difficult for me when I move to a new place to find basic facilities like hospitals and theaters, So I am planning to build this app.

Ultrabook Capabilities Used 

Ultrabook's GPS Sensor : To find the location of the user and then show the city he is in. 

Ultrabook's Ambient Light Sensor : To find the light around the user and then show the light or the dark theme of the app. 

 Ultrabook's Touch Screen : The user can interact with the application using touch. 

Using the Code 

This app is currently under development.  

Points of Interest 

I learned  a lot when started implementing this application. Mainly XAML and new windows controls introduced with .Net 4.5 and use of sensors.
