App Innovation Contest - Bubble Buddy (Game)

Introduction

Bubble Buddy is an interactive multi-touch adventure game designed to show gamers the advantage of playing games on an Ultrabook by utilizing features only the Ultrabook has to offer in order to give the player a gaming advantage over standard keyboard and mouse input devices.  

While gamers playing Bubble Buddy on an ordinary system will miss out on the app’s multi-touch, movement input, and location awareness support, Ultrabook users will be able to perform simultaneous in-game actions and discover additional game features that would otherwise be unavailable. And Bubble Buddy prefers Ultrabooks, too! He comes equipped with a few special attacks that can only be unleashed on a touchscreen device by swiping the display.

Geolocation is put to use in a fun way by finding your Ultrabook’s location and using that information to obtain the current weather report in your area, and then outfitting your Bubble Buddy with the appropriate apparel to prepare him for the climate conditions ahead. 

Touchscreen/Multitouch Awareness 

The player can move Bubble Buddy around the screen with their finger to get Bubble Buddy out of the way of danger. Multitouch support allows the player to do this WHILE he is also performing other actions such as gathering suds for Bubble Buddy so Bubble Buddy can use his attacks or popping other bubbles that get in Bubble's Buddy's way.    

Over time Bubble Buddy will learn new attacks and abilities; some of which can only be used on a touchscreen device by single or multiswiping.    

Movement Input 

The player can also take advantage of the Ultrabook's accelerometer, providing an additional method of moving Bubble Buddy along the screen, as well as performing other various game actions. 

Geolocation 

Using the Ultrabook's geolocation feature, this game will be able to obtain the weather report in a player's area, and then simulate several of the same weather conditions in-game. Bubble Buddy will also have unique reactions and apparel available for each of these simulated weather conditions. Some weather conditions will also affect gameplay.  

Game Description  

Bubble Buddy is a happy little bubble full of energy that wants to float high up into the clouds and play with his other bubble friends. But it won’t be an easy adventure, and Bubble Buddy could use your help! Along his way, Bubble Buddy will face challenging obstacles that he cannot overcome without the help of his best [human] friend. Help Bubby Buddy make it further than his Bubble Friends did so the two of you can share a spot on the leaderboards!  

Now before you start thinking that you’ll be the one who ends up doing all of the work in this partnership, you should know that Bubble Buddy isn't just your average little bubble, by any means. He’s taught himself how to use suds to make his own bubbles, which he can use to blast his way through certain obstacles. Bubble Buddy starts out with his reliable “Bubble Attack”, which he’ll use on his own to help you as the two of you work together to clear the skies ahead. As Bubble Buddy gains experience on his adventures, he’ll learn new and stronger attacks and abilities that you can unlock so the two of you can put them to use in-game!

Geolocation gathers weather information in your area and uses that to create the same climate conditions for Bubble Buddy in-game! This means if you’re playing the game inside and it starts to rain outside, it will also start raining in the game! So whether rain or shine or sunny day, you can bet that Bubble Buddy will be ready play anytime that you are. But you wouldn’t lead your friend to float around outside in a chilling snowfall without his warm mittens, would you? You can use Bubble Money you collect in-game to purchase apparel for your Buddy so you can get him everything he needs to stay afloat when Mother Nature decides to join the party. And as smart as this little bubble is, you won’t need to worry about dressing him up for the occasion — Bubble Buddy will put on the appropriate attire during a game to get him through the hard weather ahead (assuming you’ve bought it for him).
