Hi Dan,
Not sure if this has been suggested before, or whether you have considered it previously...
What I would find very useful is a capability to group tasks by an attribute, ideally in list view. These groups could be collapsed and expanded.
An example: I have a series of projects and tasks. They have a category, such as project 1, project 2, appointment etc... I also often add the category in the task title, e.g. 'Project 1: Do this task', as I find this easier visually when in a typically long listview. I often have a number of tasks for project 1 in listview, interspersed with other tasks. It would be great to be able to go directly to project 1, if working on that today. Or find all the customer contacts I need to do this week
What I think would be useful would be the ability to group (e.g. on the category). I am thinking like some email (and probably other) programs do. You would see a line for the group name, perhaps greyed, and underneath this, the associated leaves (no parent tasks).
The benefit over just sorting on the category, is the ability to collapse projects or task types you aren't working on. Makes the list shorter and things easier to find.
The benefit over filtering on the category is possibly personal taste, but I would think it is quicker and easier to overview.
Thoughts?
