In my last post, I discussed how to get the status of a Yahoo user using a simple URL. Though this was just for fun and I discovered it accidentally. This made me think if we can display the LIVE status of a Yahoo user account on my website pictorially. We could have done it by checking the status in our code and displaying different images based on whether the user is online or not. This post will explain how to display the yahoo status in images without writing any code.

Yahoo offers a URL from where you can get an image regarding the current state of the user. This URL automatically renders different image for online and offline users and you as a normal user/developer do not need to write any piece of code. You can just copy the URL below, change the Username from “niteshluharuka” to the username of your choice and place it where you want to display the image.

http://opi.yahoo.com/online?u=niteshluharuka&m=g&t=12

The above URL will display the below images based on whether the user is online or offline.

Yahoo offers 24 different type of images that you can use on your websites. Use the below URLs by changing your username to see the different images provided by Yahoo and use it on your website.
