For those new to message boards please try to follow a few simple rules when posting your question.
Choose the correct forum for your message. Posting a VB.NET question in the C++ forum will end in tears.
Be specific! Don't ask "can someone send me the code to create an application that does 'X'. Pinpoint exactly what it is you need help with.
Keep the subject line brief, but descriptive. eg "File Serialization problem"
Keep the question as brief as possible. If you have to include code, include the smallest snippet of code you can.
Be careful when including code that you haven't made a typo. Typing mistakes can become the focal point instead of the actual question you asked.
Do not remove or empty a message if others have replied. Keep the thread intact and available for others to search and read. If your problem was answered then edit your message and add "[Solved]" to the subject line of the original post, and cast an approval vote to the one or several answers that really helped you.
If you are posting source code with your question, place it inside <pre></pre> tags. We advise you also check the "Encode "<" (and other HTML) characters when pasting" checkbox before pasting anything inside the PRE block, and make sure "Use HTML in this post" check box is checked.
Be courteous and DON'T SHOUT. Everyone here helps because they enjoy helping others, not because it's their job.
Please do not post links to your question into an unrelated forum such as the lounge. It will be deleted. Likewise, do not post the same question in more than one forum.
Do not be abusive, offensive, inappropriate or harass anyone on the boards. Doing so will get you kicked off and banned. Play nice.
If you have a school or university assignment, assume that your teacher or lecturer is also reading these forums.
No advertising or soliciting.
We reserve the right to move your posts to a more appropriate forum or to delete anything deemed inappropriate or illegal.
I am into a serious trouble any help is appreciated. I have a SharePoint2013 site.Authentication is done using ADFS and think texture identity server configured on a different server(not on the server which has sharepoint installed). Now users are able to log into sharepoint site but when I search them in people picker no user is shown.I searched on net and found that I have to develop a custom claim provider.I have done that but now people picker is showing AD users but in my case users are stored in an sdf file of identity server can anybody please explain how I can develop a CCP which can query this sdf file.
How can I do this otherwise? I've not installed/setup jQuery and would need instructions on how to do that please if that is an offered solution.
I have a requirement to write a code that update an existing lookup field.
We are running sharepoint 2010. We have a content type, which is used throughout all the sites. The content type has a field called Product, which is a lookup field for all the products we have. The field also contains subproducts. For example, a product by name PR1000 has a subproduct PR1010 all in the same drop down menu.
Now we want to change this grouping and separate them based on product and subproduct. I have created new field called Parent Product (PP) and Child Product(CP).
I would like to programmatically update the Parent Product field with Product and Child PRoduct field with child product if any. So here is how it works; if an existing item or document has product PR1010, I would to update PP with PR1000 and CP with 1010.
The problem I am having in order to start this project is the product field is part of every document library and lists and there are 1000s of items with data for product.
Please help with ideas or suggestions. I am thinking of a feature event receiver, which when activated will automatically update every item with product field not empty.

Okay, I have no solution for that because in my eyes it makes no sense. Why should anyone want to do that.
You can store links in SharePoint to your document if it is hosted by a file archive system
You can store your document in SharePoint in the SP own file archive system.
You shouldn't host a file anywhere to load it via SharePoint, that's not what SharePoint is for, that would only slow down your system. You can't use the functionality for documentlibraries which make SharePoint worth using SharePoint.
This is one of my client Requirement. please help me on the same. This is very argent for me.
On the other Hand you should hint your customer at this problem. He is buying a transporter and says he wants to race in Formula One. Of course it might be possible but it's total waste of time and ressources.
My question at him would be: Why can't the files be hostet on SP? SharePoint is normaly made for that?!
My question is, can it be possible to host/deploy a sharepoint site in IIS server where we will deploy our asp.net sites usually.?
I'm not sure if I understood the question correctly.
SharePoint is always hostet on IIS server an if you have a domain you can set it up, to be used by SharePoint. You shouldn't use this domain to host SharePoint and other asp sites at the same time within the same subdomain.
