Not a good news for his fans. Still I'm going for movie on Tuesday.
IMO reason for this result is producer's big mistake. He did overrrr marketing & created overrrr-hype. He always does this. Here[^] RGV's macro review(No spoiler).
Be glad. Here in Chennai, they're selling tickets in terrible rate(Up to Rs.2000). One friend requested me* to get 3 tickets for his family. I hated that task so introduced him to other friend. Guess what? He had to buy tickets for Rs.500 each. Usual maximum price of ticket at the theatre is just Rs.90
This happens again & again for every big movie releases(1 or 2 each month). Half of theatres making more money illegally(plus No tax). Also some theatres run special shows. They don't show this money to IT department. Yeah, BLACK MONEY. It's really ironic when they makes movies with scenes like Anti-corruption or black money. For people, ticket price is matter. Even fans never question theatres or producers or some others like government about this ticket price hike. On the other end, Actors never involve in this issue, Safe play!. Because of this, 50% of people watch movies after 2 weeks once ticket price getting down to normal.
Black market tickets simply pissed local-audience off. This is why most of theatres're empty after 3rd/4th week of movie release.
*I had connection(officially) with couple of theatres in past
