Being an atheist I never mention religion in resume or anywhere(site, etc.,), if it's is a must option then I keep Atheist as selected(I think in Orkut). Also I never want to say I'm a Tamilan, I'm an Indian.
Well there are two types of students there, people who directly come on F1. And then there are H4 visa holders (spouses of H1B workers) who transfer to an F1 status. The former category will have a high chance of being deported unless they find another university to transfer to. The latter category will just fall back into H4 status.
Based on what I read in a forum, there were no physical classrooms (it was all online/virtual classes). Students were given CPT/OPT from day-1 (which was against rules). And many people used these to work fulltime in other parts of the country. So there was some significant lapses in the process and they clearly broke several laws.
Yeah these are the ones even what I was thinking were enough to tell you that there is something fishy.
And if you are applying for F1 and are ignorant of these things then you are a fool and not innocent. Also normally whenever people try for going US (before processing the visas) consult a lot with the people who are already settled there or people who have genuine information on it.
Yeah, all the students were probably not of the same mindset though. There were those who clearly meant to abuse the system and work illegally. There were those who thought this is an easy way to gain access to F1 and then they could switch to another university, then there were poor folks who thought it's a cheaper way to quickly get a Masters. It's this last category who were really stupid, the others knew what they were getting into.
There are forum threads (on immigration forums) from as early as last April (2010) where this university has been discussed. Many people had explicitly warned against even applying there but most people ignored these warnings and kept asking stupid questions like how soon can they join the college etc. It was unbelievable.
