For those new to message boards please try to follow a few simple rules when posting your question.
Choose the correct forum for your message. Posting a VB.NET question in the C++ forum will end in tears.
Be specific! Don't ask "can someone send me the code to create an application that does 'X'. Pinpoint exactly what it is you need help with.
Keep the subject line brief, but descriptive. eg "File Serialization problem"
Keep the question as brief as possible. If you have to include code, include the smallest snippet of code you can.
Be careful when including code that you haven't made a typo. Typing mistakes can become the focal point instead of the actual question you asked.
Do not remove or empty a message if others have replied. Keep the thread intact and available for others to search and read. If your problem was answered then edit your message and add "[Solved]" to the subject line of the original post, and cast an approval vote to the one or several answers that really helped you.
If you are posting source code with your question, place it inside <pre></pre> tags. We advise you also check the "Encode "<" (and other HTML) characters when pasting" checkbox before pasting anything inside the PRE block, and make sure "Use HTML in this post" check box is checked.
Be courteous and DON'T SHOUT. Everyone here helps because they enjoy helping others, not because it's their job.
Please do not post links to your question into an unrelated forum such as the lounge. It will be deleted. Likewise, do not post the same question in more than one forum.
Do not be abusive, offensive, inappropriate or harass anyone on the boards. Doing so will get you kicked off and banned. Play nice.
If you have a school or university assignment, assume that your teacher or lecturer is also reading these forums.
No advertising or soliciting.
We reserve the right to move your posts to a more appropriate forum or to delete anything deemed inappropriate or illegal.
I have a asmx-webservice. When I try to access it by using the URL directly, I get an error "Requested Format Unrecognized" (I hope the translation is correct; I have a Dutch version). When I try to make a service reference, I get the following error: There was an error downloading 'http://bliep.hulppeldepup.nl/bliep.asmx/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/$metadata'.
The request failed with HTTP status 405: Method Not Allowed.
After some googling, I got to this page https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/330221/nl that tells me that I have to adjust settingsin the firewall to remove unknown headers. Unfortunately it doesn't tell me how, and I can't find the answer anywhere.
The strange thing is, that on the same site I have another asmx webservice that I access through AJAX, without problems. Now I want to do the same thing with a Windows Forms application, and problems arrise.
How can I make my asmx webservice available for my program?
The answer to this is, try them out. Measure their performance for the use cases you have in mind. Your question is far too simplistic to make a reasonable judgement because performance could vary wildly for different use cases. Apart from anything else, you'll need to take into account features such as scaling out the application, how load balancing affects your app, does different parts introduce bottlenecks, as well as defining what acceptable performance is.
I just want to seek help, regarding my program. i want to do this in my program. the scenario is this, i have two datagridview in the main form there is a datagridview1 whenever i click the details in the datagridview1 in the datagridview2 will show the selected value of there employment history.
I already do that, my only problem is retrieving the information then view it on a datagridview. like what i said when i click datagridview1 the details of employment history is will show in datagridview2. something like that.
..a mouse-click event is triggered. Open the form with the designer, select your datagridview, press F4 to bring up properties. That properties-list can also show events by toggeling one of the buttons at the top. Find the Cell-click event, and double-click it. That generates the handler and hooks it up when the form is created.
In that event, you load the data for the second datagridview, in a similar way as the first datagridview. Since you probably want details, you'll need to use some details from the "e"-variable from the CellClick-event - it shows in which row and which column was clicked, allowing you to fetch the value and to reuse it in the query for the second datagridview.

Masterpage css-enabled effects lose functionality for pages that are in aspnet
In aspnet.vb (using VS 2008) I have a collapsable page header banner
running in a masterpage with a toggle button that shows the nav menu
for smaller browser window sizes in dropdown; both controls are css-enabled and
However when I move any page that runs from this masterpage into a members-only
folder for aspnet secure sign-in, the collapsible banner stops
collapsing and the toggle button does not respond to activation(click) so the
nav menu is unavailable.
I tried moving the masterpage into the members folder but this made no difference; also
tried putting css files into the members folder and changing the paths on the masterpage
but also no result...
After trying every which way to change the location of the masterpage, use another
button configuration and so forth, I have no solution So aspnet security seems to
be getting in the way. Seems that the skip-links generated by aspnet security could
be the problem.
Any solutions pls share. steve - email@example.com
