You can also send the output of the program to a text file, and then read that file

Corflags.exe "MyApplication.exe" > C:\Temp\Output.txt

Execute it with Process.Start.

Run .Net 4.0 WPF App on WinXP SP3

I wrote a .net 4.0 WPF app for a client targeting Windows Server 2012 R2. He now also wants to run it on WinXP. He installed SP3, but the app only runs if he runs logs into the PC as admin.

I haven't worked with XP in a long time.

What do I need to do to get it running without logging in as admin?

.NET 4.0 is supported on XP SP3, the problem is that XP SP3 is unsupported Poke tongue | ;-P

.NET 4.0 is not supported on XP SP3.

.NET 3.5 is supported on XP.

Soooo either tell him XP isn't supported, Microsoft has ended support for it after all, or recompile your app on .NET 3.5 and hope you don't have to rewrite stuff where you've used .NET 4.0 specific stuff.

That depends on what your code is doing. There are various things that require admin priv's to do.

That's just about useless.

Without knowing more about what you're code is doing, exactly, when it crashes and what you're using, any error messages, ..., there's little anyone can do to help.

Or is the db a file in a protected folder? Remember that modifying something in the "Program Files" folder requires admin-rights.

SQL is a language; what database (server) are you talking to? SQL Server, MySQL, SQLite, SQL CE, Access?

..and where is the *.mdf located? Write a small console-app that only does a select, try that - does it require admin-rights? Writing to local (config?) files? Where are those located?

And what does happen if a "normal" user tries to start it? Error messages? What do the log files of your app tell you? Any entries in EventViewer?
Which type of .Net Framework 4: "full" or "client profile"?

That stack trace would indicate that the program has successfully managed to start up and the user is interacting it when it breaks - the fact it's hitting the ICommand implementation suggests this.
