Being able to ignore noise hardly qualifies one for such a post.
If you can't handle the clicking of a pen, imagine this; a coworker at the last office had this radio, and I found myself sometimes singing along with it. With one song containing the line "I'm a psycho killer", which I would shout. The coworker took over the habit of shouting the same during that line of the song.
Must have been very worrying for our manager, especially if customers near
