.NET Core....for Windows.
Well, it sure is a good thing that there's not already a .NET platform still in active development that exclusively targets Windows.

You need to drink more Koolaid. .net core 45 is the officially designated successor to .net framework 4.8. That it's not a feature complete replacement be ![Elephant | [mastadon]](https://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/Images/elephant.gif) ed.
This is one of the larger missing parts; and I think was the only one left MS isn't saying they won't port over because it's a Legacy Bad Idea (tm) like Webforms. The old Non-generic .net 1.x containers and App Domains were listed on the not coming because Legacy Bad Idea (tm); not sure if they still are. Non-generic collections are at least easy to replace with List<object>, etc even if you don't want to do a proper job of modernzing your code.

C++/CLI is hardly "Legacy" nor a "Bad Idea".
That it's Windows-only is due to the fact C++/CLI extends the C++ syntax and is only supported by Microsoft's compilers. There is ongoing work in GCC++ to support it which I believe will gain steam once MS releases this in .Net Core 3.1.
OTOH, there are opensource compilers that target standard C++ to .Net Core. Some even documented in articles here on CP.

I'm saying that I think with C++/CLI porting in progress, everything else on the not being ported list are the legacy bad ideas they've previously explicitly said won't be ported.
