We started a journey to build a native package manager for Windows 10 when we announced the Windows Package Manager preview at Microsoft Build 2020. Can I install it with Chocolatey/NuGet/npm?

The usual answer is you need more internet speed than you currently have, but let's look closer. How much can I have?

Minimum 10Gb, so I can hot-migrate VMs directly over the Internet.
Of course, "need" is debatable. I'm coping with 60Mb at the moment.
As an aside, the fastest I can get here in a high population and business density area in north west London is 60-70Mb on FTTC or 300Mb on cable/fibre from Virgin Media. No FTTP, G.FAST or third party full fibre available here yet and no schedules for any of them.
I was recently perusing houses in the country and I discovered that BT were offering 900Mb (presumably via G.FAST) in the middle of nowhere in rural Gloucestershire.

Actually, it was arguably the best JVM at the time, which really ticked off Sun.

'struth = J++ was yet another Anders masterwork, and I agree it was probably because it was so good that Sun went after it. (They ignored IBM's efforts until it was too late - even with the "Sundown" code name, and of course Eclipse)

I'd rather they tried to write reasonably efficient code. Instead, they piss away the performance gains given to us by hardware weenies just because the response time will still be OK with most users.

One of my main customers will from time to time just start programs like this. After a few years, the trend fades, the people retire or culled, and we wait for the next cycle. What's odd is that there is no correlation to profitability, just the mission.
This is nothing but bad marketing. I would not want to be involved with this project.
