Test projects give you a way to exercise your code to see if it works but they're also part of your project's "permanent record." If all you want to do is try something out with some throwaway code, C# Scripting in Visual Studio might be a better choice. Who needs a compiler?

Same here. Audio notifications are only enabled for infrequent, high priority events. Everything else is muted and checked manually when I'm between steps of a task or less often.

Not to sound like a broken record (obligatory-but-muted rim-shot), but I don't have speakers on my working PC's. I have a headset I use for online meetings, but I even keep the volume turned down when I'm not actively using it.
Sound is an unnecessary distraction. If you display a visual indicator (icon in the task bar, plus a notification popup), a corresponding sound is not only unneeded but obnoxious.
Joel Spolsky I believe made the claim one time that these sorts of "micro-distractions" were more of a productivity drain than meetings or phone calls. It produces a pointless break in your concentration, disrupting 'flow', and forces you to consciously decide to ignore it for the moment.

Microsoft has updated its official documentation to reflect Windows 10’s EOL date. But it's the last version of Windows! Maybe they know the world will end then?

Windows 10 was as successful as it has been in very large part because it was essentially free for anyone with a Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 product key (and even now it's still free for 7/8/8.1 keys).
I wonder if Windows 11 will continue the policy. If not, upgrades are going to happen very slowly.

Typical F.U.D. from Microsoft haters. The semi-annual major updates to Windows 10 have always been given a defined EOL (end of support) date. This is especially important for companies like mine, where one of my duties is maintaining the Windows 10 system image we load on the industrial PC's that run our products (commercial ink-jet printing systems). Our current image is build 1608 on the LTSB (Long Term Service Branch), originally released in August 2016. Later this year or next we will probably update our base image to whatever is current at the time.
None of this implies that Microsoft is abandoning Windows (or even Windows 10), or any of the other drivel spouted by Joel Hruska, author of the article. I think it's immaterial even if the next edition is called Windows 11 or something other than 10. It will still be an evolution of the current software, nothing more, nothing less. Anything other than that would be corporate suicide on an inconceivable scale.

Not quite. It is actually somewhat humorous, given the statement back in 2015 by Microsoft that Windows 10 would be the last version ever: Windows 10 To Be 'Last Version Of Windows'
