Introduction

Firefly is a simple tool which allow to launch a screen saver randomly chosen among a set of screen savers defined by the user.

To install it, just copy it in your system directory (usually C:\windows\system32)

Architecture

Firefly is itself a screensaver. So it allows three different kind of command line options:

• "/c" launch the configuration dialog
• "/p hWnd" ask the screensaver to draw a preview on the window with the handle hWnd
• "/s" launch the screensaver

Configuration dialog

This dialog allow the user to chose which screen savers will be run.

• The list of screen savers is obtained by listing all *.scr files in the system (C:\windows\system32) and windows (C:\windows) directories
• The name of a screensaver should be the string with the id 1 in the string table of the program resources
• The mini-preview is obtained by running the screen saver with the options "/p hWnd" where hWnd is the handle of the preview window
• The screen saver settings dialog is launched by running it with the options "/c"
• The preview just launch the screen saver with the options "/s"

Running the screen saver

When run, Firefly selects randomly a screen saver and just run it with the "/s" option.
