I return to the stage to perform comedy. Well, I actually returned last week after a month break. Was little rusty, but going to make up for it tonight. Tonight when you're having dinner or a drink, remember you could be trying to entertain 50 some people for 8 minutes.

It was my fellow performer's birthday. After we did a set, he drank a 40oz bottle of Steel Reserve 8.1%ABV in a matter of minutes, then got back up to perform in some games (did not do well).

Sorry just not strong enough, Poitín is 60%-90% ABV. That stuff is for wimps.

I know, we have Everclear here for those that hate themselves enough to require 90% abv. 40oz of a malt beverage in the course of minutes led to not so good comedy. I doubt Poitin would lead to anything better.

I think there is big difference between public speaking and doing stand-up. I've done the former but not sure I could contemplate the latter. Kudos to you and hope you get a good laugh.

Friday it was improv, which is actually more nerve wracking than stand up in my opinion (having done both about equal amounts.)
Stand up is horrifying in the sense of "what if what I found funny enough to write down, they find stupid?" It's the material which gets judged the most, which is very personal, as you took the time to write it.
Improv is horrifying in the sense that you walk onto the stage going, "I have no idea what the hell is about to happen." It is incredibly easy to freeze, miss a reference, misinterpret a line, generally make an ass of oneself. I have found that there is so much horrible improv out there, that just not sucking at it puts you into the top 50%.
