Yes we have the same in the UK although not so much for part time work mainly full time. I'm signed up with an good agency but unfortunately 'work in the UK' is becoming an oxymoron.

I wanted to rant my real opinion of them, but the message would get removed.

Since you guys are looking for work:
I've got a website I need made to handle this thing where I market these things to people that need them and the system has to keep track of it and I'll need some reports - oh, and the regulations have to be met and all that - plus my accounting people need a tool.
How much will that cost?

I'll be glad to quote it,
But I need some more information
on the tracking, reports, accounting tool
and how many pages it would take to properly market the item.
You can private message me on the details, and we will do our best to properly market anything you offer, and we don't get emotional or political about the item or services offered. Would be nice to know what it is, so I can determine the level of saturation currently in the market. Saturated items and services require more work to bring them to the top in search results.

Yep, I've hired about 6 different people/companies on it for graphics design/3d model design jobs. I'm working on a game at the moment and put out the graphics completely sending off cartoons I found on the web as starting points, and they developed 3d models and animated them for me.
It's excellent - I would not have been able to do the things I've done without it. There are others - odesk(?) I think is one. The important thing is to spend a while going through people's portfolios.
I do all the coding myself so can't vouch for that, but I do have a friend which who paid $2000 to have his iPhone app idea developed, and it went on to sell over 2.5 million copies, so again I think he'd be pleased he elanced!
As a tip, don't offer above the $500 mark for your orginal job spec. Different currencies mean things can done spectacularly cheaply in comparison to what you'd pay at home.

Rob Philpott.

So it looks like it works reasonably well from an employers point of view but perhaps not from the employee side I'd be looking at for now.

Yeah, that was sorta obvious the moment he said don't offer more than $500 for a job

I'd take that if it's a job I can do in a day, I don't live in London so $500 is a reasonable day rate

Duh, sorry, got the wrong end of the stick.
In which case I'd say you'll find yourself up against some cheap competition so it might not be great. That said some people prefer hiring in the same country so who knows.

Rob Philpott.
