I need to replace my old Mac laptop... I'm looking at the MacBook Air 13 inch.
Any thought ?
pros/cons that I should be aware that are not necessarily reported in reviews ?
[Addendum]
I am not buying a laptop to work or play games (other than simple games)... I have a PC at home that I use to play and do "power" stuff.
I am still not interested in a tablet... ( I have an iPhone that works great for my need).
Thanks

My brother just got a major award.
I've never received a major award.
The most prestigious award I ever got was a 'participation' ribbon for a 5th grade sack race.
Even then, I had to steal it from another boy who left it on the picnic table so he could go get a hotdog.
*sigh*

I am very happy with my GS3.
I love it in fact.
Never in my life have I loved a mobile phone as much as I love my GS3.

I suppose I will have to convince myself that it is justified and that I need to have it immediately.
Shiny!

Looking back at my CV I see that the longest I have ever worked at one company was 7 years and 2 months. Most places it is around 18 months - which I understand is the industry average right now.
I wonder which of you has the longest time at one job?

I had a work-from-home day yesterday due to my sons daycare being closed. I got a ton of unit tests written up on the EF model I've been creating, all on a little laptop with a little screen. I hate it because it's like trying to map the Grand Canyon by looking through a soda straw.
But, I came into work today to find 2 brand-freakin'-new HP LA2306x monitors sitting on my desk! WooHoo! I LOVE screen real-estate. My desktop is now 3,840 pixels wide and 1080 tall. Still smaller than my setup at home, but better than I had last week here.

I was just contacted by a home user who wanted to know if she could access a Silverlight application from home on her Macintosh computer. I told her to give it a try. A few minutes later she sent me a very nice email just pleased as she could be that she didn't have to make the trip into work to complete a tiny 10 minute chore before leaving for vacation. It was a wonderful warm & fuzzy moment.
Yesterday I had a user all excited about the fact that they can sort a data grid by two or more columns by holding the shift key. Magic that works right out of the box. No other applications that we have are able to work that tiny miracle so easily.
With Silverlight I have the means to quickly deliver an identical experience to people across a wide variety of platforms - my customers like it and I as a developer enjoy the environment.
I guess with all that success there is no better time for Microsoft to abandon the technology and chase after the steaming pile of bullsh*t that is the HTML stack. Hell, I love the idea of learning a dozen different languages and technologies just so I can deliver a crappy, inconsistent product to my customers. Yeah, that's a winning plan. I so look forward to the standards being finalized in 8 more years.... that's progress.
PRO TIP FOR MICROSOFT: Vision isn't following other's lead. Vision is often recognizing that you've the winning hand right NOW and simply going with it. Retards.
And yes, I know I've posted similar rants before.
It still makes me mad though.

Just got back from lunch (yes, alcohol was involved; but not to the extent that I can no longer stand).
I've been doing a few sods and odds for a friend's company and we where disgusting the bids he's had for a new web site. I know slightly less than Richard the Retard concerning web design but I was able to offer one wee nugget - if the solution is driven by the technology rather than the technology driving the solution then it is the wrong solution. That killed five from seven tenders and I am on a retainer to sort out the others.
I may well be able to pay part of my gin bill this month.
Reality is an illusion caused by a lack of alcohol

I was asked to recommend a preferably open-source tool to track IT bugs. I've used BugZilla for SW bugs and I assume it is easily customizable to track customer and employee issues. However, I'd like your thoughts on this in case you have another recommendation to make for tracking general IT issues? Thanks!

It is seriously broken, downgrading then causes a softbricked device. I'm struggling to recover from this, despite following the various threads and youtube videos.
Do yourself a favour and keep clear of this firmware. Surprised GoPro haven't pulled it.
What is even more annoying is I'm back offshore next tuesday, then come home and straight on skiing holiday and want it fixed by then! Nae a happy bunny...........

Movie Quote Of The Day
A little early today, I have a meeting all day in a few minutes.
One of my favorite scenes.
Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig sh*t, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig".
Which movie?

Looks like VS2012 gets confused when you rename a folder "Install" as "Install_Old", then add a new folder "Install" (adding some files in it), then close your solution (to ensure all files were saved), then check in changes.
I tried a few times with supposed success but with no item added to TFS history. I finally tried again and it gave me an error saying one of the files couldn't be found (it apparently deleted some of them in its confusion). Not only that, but after I closed the solution, it created a "Solution1" with no contents, so I was able to then close that solution (which finally left no solution).
I already have Update 1 installed... maybe that'll be fixed in Update 2. Seriously, though, screwing up my files after a simple rename operation, creating ghost solutions, and silently failing? Pretty amateurish. Looks like I'll have to do this in a few steps.

All I did was update my resume on dice. I figured that if I had a good job now, I might as well keep an eye out for the perfect one. You know, like 60k for part time telecommute. That sort of thing. or 100k living in Utah. Just the normal stuff like that.
Now, I am getting contacted out the wahzoo Some of these offers are really good looking, but I'm probably holding out for the high paid telecommute job mentioned above.
Things are going well now, so I can't see doing something like that. If I did it wouldn't be until after my review in July.
If it moves, compile it

I just unsubscribed from some website where you can earn 'points' by shopping at certain webshops, clicking on ads, filling out surveys etc. Points could be traded for money.
I've been going at it for years and finally got 120 euro. Since I had a surplus of points I decided to go for 10 euro extra.
So I thought it was enough and unsubscribed. Just like that, click the unsubscribe button and all they ask 'Why did you unsubscribe?'. Click 'next' and you've lost your account and all your points.
I got an email saying I could reactivate my account, which I did, and bam I got everything back...
I wish every website had such an easy un/re-subscribe button. I'm member of more than one website where you need to email some moderator who's never online anymore himself (so much for getting unsubscribed).
I wonder how long the re-subscription is available...?
It's an OO world.
