 Well I'm sure Chris and co. have been aware of that site coming for a long time, it wasn't exactly a secret, neither were the problems with existing sites that they outlined early on that they were going to solve in their implementation.
I'm kind of surprised that some of the stuff that's been suggested for here for years made it there first after only a few months of development time, perhaps they were reading the CP suggestion forum?

It's a solid site; i love the UI.
I'm a little bit worried that they put the bar too high for obtaining editing capabilities, but we'll see how it plays out...

Well, the stated goal is to drive existing programmer Q&A sites like ExpertSexChange / MSDN Forums out of the top Google search results, so i'm comparing it to those UIs (the former being an ad-clogged nightmare, the latter tormented by unstable URLs and painfully bad formatting).

It's got at least two of the biggest heavyweights in the business behind it, both with a proven track record of success at everything they do, it alleviates all the major problems currently seen on Q&A sites for coders with a few simple but clever ideas, some of which have been suggested for this site *many* times.

Google is marvelously intuitive but was hardly innovative. The User Exoperience built upon and was simply another version of Yahoo.
