The problem that I have here is what really constitutes a defect?
I know it seems easy to put your finger on. It is always a case of 'I know it when I see it" but in reality there is often a disconnect 'between designed as intended' vs 'does not do what I want'. It is often ambiguous at best (aside form an outright crash obviously) but once it becomes a legal issue you are going to see these arguments going WAY up. Also, add to that the delays in requirements review because both parties want to do a better job (at the prompting of layers no doubt) of CYA, we would see a ton of projects go way past schedule I think.
I am not saying that having good discussions to hash out details until they are very clear is not a good thing, but I have seen it get ridiculous at times and i think this may just exacerbate it.

Probably the most dangerous NASA Mission since Apollo, Atlantis is to do a final service on the Hubble.
Here[^]
Endeavour is being prepped for Emergency Rescue Mission, and this would be the first time two shuttles were launched into space since "Armageddon" ever.
Good luck to all concerned.

The risk profile here's no greater than for every other non ISS mission, or early ISS construction mission (before it was habitable), that's been flown.

This one is Much Higher Altitude, longer, more spacewalks and is on a Very Old Vehicle!
Still a huge risk factor.

The primary risks are takeoff and reentry; those are unchanged from one mission to the next. Everything else is chump change. All grandstanding for/by the press not withstanding, the risk is not meaningfully higher than for any of the historic missions that didn't have the ISS as an evac location.

Concept - send a package Budpest to London using Next Day Delivery Result - Package sent Thursday lunchtime, arrives Monday morning.
According DHL (abusive meaning of letters to follow) 'next day' does not refer to the next day. It does not mean the next working day. It's the next fracking day that they can get their lardy [deleted] out of bed to do some work. They are useless!
The package was not 'recorded' until Friday evening. So according to Demented Humans Ltd, they didn't even have to actually deliver until tomorrow as the 'working day' that they 'received' the package was today. So 'next day' is Tuesday. I have complained in the most polite way I can. DEFCON7 is imminent.

Actually, use FedEx. Every time I call I get a human on the phone, instantly who is clearly a well-paid CSR. On that alone I would use Fed-Ex (just not LTL, I have seem some of their software :p )

Ennis Ray Lynch, Jr. wrote: FedEx FedEx is a piece of crap. A colleague of mine sent some stuff from the US to France in express. Two weeks to get the stuff delivered, they were unable to read the address, they were unable to locate it on a mpa once taught how to read. She asked them for a bill, but the only one allowed to fax a bill is the sender, so in the US, and internal policies forbid them to send fax to Europe Never, ever again.

France is a PITA to ship to, I don't think that is FedEx's fault.

Order something to be sent to my house, 1st card (Delivery Attempt) I ask if they could chnage the delivery address to my company address, answer "no" it's signed delivery and I had to collect the package from the depot (14 miles away). Continue to be carded 2 more times before I could pick it up. This most be 'normal' for DHL customers.

Ever since my first experience with FedEx (which was extremely good), I've been continuing using their services and they haven't disappointed me. I was asked not to touch DHL with anything else, but a flaming torch and I've been following it seriously.

On Thursday 7th I ordered three items from Amazon. Two were dispatched on the 8th via 'Home Delivery Network Limited' (never heard of them before) the third item was dispatched on Saturday 9th via Royal Mail. The latter arrived earlier today. According to the tracking software the first two should arrive tomorrow.
Kudos to Royal Mail, I am amazed that they beat the commercial company after giving them a head start.

Home Delivery Network Ltd. Is basically a company that pays private individuals (using their own vehicles) to do their deliveries if I remember. I had several things delivered by Amazon, they weren't generally that bad, but you could never really put a date on when you were getting the item.

I agree with the other posts - Fedex wins against DHL every time. There are too many DHL stories and they are too painful

Our company was required to use DHL if possible. My personal experience was not good. It seemed they couldn't even couldn't even communicate amongst themselves to let us know that a package we needed ASAP had arrived so we could come pick it up. (just one of many bad experiences). Many of us expressed delight when DHL quit doing domestic delivery in the US. Fedex does a much better job.

It's just that it's a Monday, and I have an on-topic rant all ready to go that would fit perfectly in the survey comments.

After watching the new Star Trek movie I went to a squib bar and picked a fight. After having my nose broken I wasn't invited to the academy by a respected commander. What did I do wrong?

Not in my book! And I'm female so I get two votes on that. I have tickets to see it in the IMAX theatre in NYC next weekend. Yay! Brief sexual content! Violence! Sci-fi Action!
