I'm driving myself and our designer a little nuts trying to get a neat way of highlighting the current message in forums and so we've gone back to what we had, albeit with a different, and more complimentary colour.
Is the text of this message on the selected background easy to read, or us going back to white better for everyone, or (as I'm guessing) somewhere in the middle. A lighter shade, perhaps.

The background and main text are OK but the pre-mouseover gray text at the bottom is putrid.

That color is pleasing to the eye and a lot easier to read the text. Nice!
