GeneralSee how long it lasts! PinmentorDaveAuld8-Oct-12 13:00
My PC had been suffering from instant shutdowns when the GPU had been folding for around 20-30 seconds, despite temperatures not exceeding 45'C.

I thought it may have been a CPU issue, but when the CPU was loaded up when folding it ran without any problem. I therefore suspected that it might have been a fault on the power supply or the gpu card. I had even removed the cards, moved power connects about cleaned heatsinks etc. all without success.

I had even done a clean re-install of the latest GPU drivers, but to no avail.

After having recently installed Win8 onto my new SSD, and performed a fresh clean install of everything, I today installed the folding client to at least get the CPU folding again. Out of curiosity I download Furmark and loaded up the GPU, and it ran without issue with the GPU at 65'C.

I decided to just fire up the folding client and leave it folding on both the GPU and CPU, expecting the machine to bail out after the usual 20-30seconds.

That was about 3 hours ago! WTF | :WTF:

Leave it overnight now and see if it has died by the morning. Fingers crossed.
Dave
