My side is Italian, so they'll probably demand that.
It's going to be a long reception, so we think the second round of food via foodtruck will sober everyone up, and not add to the cost too greatly.

You can always just not offer to help, like my future FIL.

He's probably still upset about the whole gay union thing.
Give him time.

I like that.
When I got married we went simple, we got married in Key West, on our honeymoon trip. And we didn't tell anyone in advance.
Part reason was that I'm Swedish, my family basically only speaks Swedish. My Wife is German and her family speaks only German. So where to get married?
We fled the whole thing, and made three different parties instead. On in my hometown for my family, one in my wifes hometown for her family and one in our house where we live now for our friends.
We also kept it cheap, good catering and plenty to drink was the whole concept.
People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

Congrats but I'm also of the opinion have a simple wedding, take the money you saved and have one hell of a honeymoon. Just my two sense.

Believe me, it will not be a super expensive wedding. Not paying for DJ, I'll draft a bartender, and my friend is a professional wedding photographer with his own business (An assistant will probably shoot it as he'll be guest).
I'm not getting any monetary help, so the budget is <15k.

Interesting choice for post subject. Seems Freudian even with the apostrophe. Marred[^]
Congrats all the same.
It was broke, so I fixed it.

Looks big to me, but I guess weddings in the US are bigger affairs than in Europe.
Foods look good and making it a buffé is definitely the right way of doing it.
Congrats by the way, I almost never regret getting married.
