My father wants to buy a tablet.
Which would you lot recommend?
I would say the Galaxy Tab 2 (10") or the Nexus 7, but any others you recommend?

I like the Kindle Fire HD - I've not used the Nexus so I can't comment on it, but the Kindle Fire HD is nice and pretty foolproof.

Amazon's abandoning last years tablets already has left me disgusted enough that I'll never buy one of their android products.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

No GPS?
Non-Standard Android?
I think I will pass.
He needs one that is fairly ubiquitous/vanilla plus he wants to play 'Football Manager' on it.

The best one remains the latest iPad ( You cannot imagine how much it costs me to reckon that). Then a good and cheaper alternative is the Transformer Pad TF300 from ASUS.
Most reviews about the Galaxy Tab 2 is that it is not that much superior to the 1 (at least the 10" version, the 7.1" has another display). Instead, the galaxy Note 10.1 seems to be a better while slightly different choice.

I receive a lot of mail about the V1 Agra, apparently it's the best tablet out there.
from personal experience, I'd second the Transformer as he can use it as a netbook or stand alone tablet.

Check that the applications he wants to use is available on whatever platform you choose.
If he wants to read such and such electronic version of a newspapers and it is not available, then it will be a bust.
Check to see if there are "games" he'd like to play (chess, dominos, ... ).
Check to see how easy it will be for him to buy and install new applications and/or music and movies.
Bring him to a store and let him play with the different devices.

It seems like some information is not consistent / out-of-date in this chart.
There is no such thing as android marketplace, but Google play.
My Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 runs (officialy !) Android 4.2

What else has he got?
If he has an iPhone, or iPod (and thus iTunes already corrupting his systems) it makes sense to stick with the iOS family.
Otherwise, I'd suggest Android - the Nexus 7 or 10 depending on how physically big he wants it.

Well, not THIS ONE[^] - and anyway, I don't think it's possible to buy just one...
