GeneralGoodbye... PinmemberNaerling25-Nov-12 14:53
Since voting is off in the lounge I have no further reason to visit CP.
I have planned a two week vacation to Portugal to think life over and get away from CP and more importantly, not voting.
Well, maybe CP had little to do with this vacation. I guess you'll never know.
Anyway, see you all when I get back! Big Grin | :-D

I was looking into the Go Language, and saw there was a few books out there on it.

Every year before Christmas where I work, we can generate a wish list of materials and tools for the comming year. Currently I have about $600 (I got it cut down from $925 Big Grin | :-D ) in amazon books in my wish list, so before I add one more book to the list, a couple of questions:

1. Anyone from the .NET world have any experences useing this language? (how does it compare?)
2. Is this still an expermental language or are there people out there making and selling applications built with Go? (examples?)

Go seams interesting, although it at first glance doesn't seem to have much to do with what I normally do (HMIs, hardware control and embedded devices), I normally work with .NET,embedded C, and Arduino C; so I'm looking to expand in some new directions, I'm just not sure if Go is worth while, from my already short ammount of free time.

GeneralBuild Servers [modified] PinmemberZac Greve25-Nov-12 6:21
Well, I have just set up Jenkins on my personal server and am currently configuring it with plugins/updates/settings/etc. I will be testing it over the next several days to see if it will work for me, but after seeing how easy it is to configure, I think it will be what I need.

I have tried TeamCity (Could not get the configuration right, a lot of strange errors related to IIS) and TFS 2012 (Could not even install due to a 'Fatal Fail Error' D'Oh! | ).

IIS does not play nice with Jenkins, and trying to host Jenkins in IIS always gives a 503 Service Unavailable message. It seems that IIS cannot load some required modules, but it loads them perfectly fine for other websites/applications/etc. D'Oh! | I will be looking at CruiseControl.NET next. Stay Tuned!

CC.NET is active and ready to rumble! It took me about ten minutes to install and configure it, as opposed to about an hour for Jenkins and (seemingly) forever for TeamCity, thanks to IIS and its greedy playing style.
I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.
