Mine was to go to sleep the night before, and wake up the next morning. Seems that my plan worked flawlessly.

I wrote a little Silverlight application that replaced a paper based system.
It offers all the standard benefits of a computer based system.
It really is nothing special.

The manager for whom I wrote the system is absolutely thrilled.

She has said to several other managers that it's done things for them above and beyond what they thought was possible - this coming from someone who was a bit skeptical at first. She's all happy now and anxious to get to work to replace other paper based systems.

The nice thing about where I work is that all the current systems are so terrible that anything I do looks like magic. It's all paper based - and where technology touches it the whole thing is mainframe/Access/Excel cobbled together in the most inefficient ways. It's like being the first person to discover gold in a stream - it's all low hanging fruit with no competition.

It's nice to occasionally pull off a win.
Looks like I'll be busy for years to come.

Now all you have to do is overarchitect your code, making it so complex that only you can work on it.

Let me guess: They are working on cryogenics and have been testing their stuff for the last 10 - 15 years?
