Yet iTunes 11 or some update after I installed it still seems to have silently relocated my library to my local SSD (rather than the network drive it was on) and caused Time Machine to make a backup of the various movies I've since downloaded, completely wasting a ton of backup space. Honestly, how hard is it to keep the old settings when upgrading?
Did you inadvertently do a "Organise Files" operation? The location of your library may have been on your local drive, but your media could have been on the network drive. "Organising" your library will put things where they have been told to be put. It's a great way to move your physical library around to different drives: just enter the correct location for the library and tell it to go organise itself.
I just moved my 450Gb library from my Windows homeserver onto my 2TB Time Machine. Basically the same drives, same network speed, but what an insane speed increase. The old Acer Windows HomeServer is not long for this world, methinks.
I had previously set the location of the library to a folder on my 2TB Time Capsule. And I did an "organize files" so my iTunes files at the time would be copied to the Time Capsule. Then I deleted the files from the SSD.
I noticed Time Machine was doing some hefty backups recently, so I checked iTunes on a whim. Turns out that's what it was. At some point, iTunes had reverted back to the default location on the local SSD and it was downloading files to there ever since. After an hour or so, it's about 3/4ths of the way complete doing an "organize files" back to the Time Capsule.
Bah! After the "organize files" was complete and I restarted the computer, it reset the media folder back to the default location! Looks like this will be my task to figure out tomorrow. I suspect the issue is that the Time Capsule keeps disconnecting, and iTunes just reverts to the default location when it can't detect the set location. That's just annoying.
o/~ It was slow. It was buggy.
So they wrote it again.
Now they're up to OS ten.
they'll charge you for the Beta, then charge you again,
but the Mac OS still sucks.
why would you expect the rest of their software to be any different?
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies.

Looks like it wasn't the upgrade. iTunes reverts to the local when it can't connect to the network, and Time Capsule likes to sleep as much as possible. I'm going to have to figure out how to keep it constantly connected.
No, I played it straight. It's a bit complicated, so I really don't want to stir the pot right now.
I'm rebuilding an old power line across the desert, and part of it crosses a span of mountains that was recently leased to the County to build a nice park. My contractor is currently stopped and costing me $25,000 a day because this person won't sign a memo that acknowledges that we are taking reasonable precautions to protect anyone who might hike through the park while we're working. No one is using the park - it's bloody cold here, by local standards, with temps in the low 40s and wind blowing at 40 mph. No one will notice that we've come and gone.
Are you kidding me? He made some of the best movies ever: Death Wish I, II - and the best one of them all: III (need I say more than "teeth"???)

I have been working on a small(ish) NSIS script editor (Why? Why Not?), and I have gone through three syntax highlighting text editor controls:
* ScintillaNET - Very powerful, just a little hard to wrap your head around
* ICSharpCode.TextEditor - Highlighting is goofy, hard to use.
* Storm.TextEditor - The one that just works!™
Storm.TextEditor actually highlights correctly, and is blazing fast! After a short bout of adding a syntax highlighting file for NSIS and getting Drag'n'Drop to work, I am on my way to getting this app done!
I also hit an odd issue where the framework could not convert an icon to a bitmap due to some missing metadata that appears to be OPTIONAL. I had made the icon from a png with the '@Icon Sushi' application (the original developer is Japanese, hence the strange name), which is what spat out an 'invalid' (for the .NET Framework at least) icon. I used convertICO.com to try again, and that worked. Go figure.
If you guys want me to, I will post a link to the source/binaries when I get them online. And that 'when' may be a while (School and stuff).
And wish me luck in getting up at 6 AM for a 7:30 AM Economics class. (Actually, the professor is very funny and has the amazing ability to keep a room full of half-awake students occupied and interested for a full hour, at least!)
So the company I work for has set in place a policy to support the Surface and iPad in tablet and the iPhone in the small form factor. Mainly because the desktop is MS of course and the tablet may end up as a replacement for some PCs.
As we develop in Silverlight this means a complete change to support the mobile crap, Thankfully as LOB developers this will have almost no impact.
Is it possible to develop 1 UI for all three platforms, I suspect HTML 5 is the correct platform!
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity
HTML 5 is the correct platform if you want to support all three. You will need to use PhoneGap (Apache Cordova) to get this done. Right now, Telerik is offering their Icenium product for free[^]. I am not a Telerik employee but I've checked out their product and they make writing phone gap apps really easy to do. I was able to write a quick Hello World app and push it to my Android in 5 minutes. They also let you push the apps to Google Play and the Apple App Store if you have the required licenses. I don't have those so I couldn't try that out. But I was really impressed with the product they put together.
