DigiGuide[^]is the best of the best!
Available via the web and as an app it is well worth the (small) subscription.
Personally I use the DabDig plugin to control my TV card/DVBViewer and never miss a show.

Thank you, it doesn't have quite the simplicity or the ammount of info on screen of tvguide but as you point there are a lot more things you can get by subscribing. I'll give it a go.
I have a dual head system where the TV plus one monitor are attached to the same machine so I like to have the live stream and a full screen guide up at the same time. digiguide looks like it will do the trick.

I am planning on installing Windows 8 on my laptop (the compatibility check stated that my laptop is compatible). I don't have a touch screen, but I can use a mouse perfectly fine with it (I use a mouse in my Win8 VM).
Yes, I actually like Windows 8. So what? Anyone who wants to fight with me on it can just write their argument on a piece of paper and send it to their local recycling center.

I am thinking of getting a touchscreen HDMI monitor or two (or three or four) with an HDMI splitter for my laptop. I like having multiple monitors. I won't go overboard like one of my friends did, he had 200 26" monitors for his laptop. That is way to many.

I am overhauling some test systems that are kind of old, but I think a couple of them should be compatible. I just have to plug a little more RAM in one of them and then I am going to run the compatibility check.
This will actually be the first time I try out Windows 8. I have just been too busy  .

It is.... different, to say the least. Quite cool though.
I expected my laptop to be compatible due to the fact that my VM worked perfectly fine when I configured it to use the actual hardware directly, instead of through the VMWare Player drivers.

I've been using Win 8 on a desktop and also (for a couple of days now) on the Surface Pro. Other than getting used to few changes, I also like it overall. Here are my complaints:
1) I miss the Win 7 and Vista widgets on the desktop. Since I spend most of my time on the desktop, it's nice to have a big clock and the weather there. Switching to the Start screen and looking at the tiles is a PITA.
2) When first installed, the PDF reader, media player, etc. default to the Metro tiles for those apps. That is a royal PITA when I brought up a PDF while programming and had to switch back and forth to the Start screen, then the desktop, etc. Fortunately, installing a PDF reader and media player from the desktop fixed that.
3) I can't find a way to kill the Aero interface. My software has some interactive graphics that bogged down when using the Aero GUI in Vista and Win 7. Fortunately disabling Aero was easy and fixed the problem, speeding graphics up immensely. Unfortunately on Win 8 the slow graphics problem is back and I haven't found any way to disable it and get the fast graphics back again.
Other than those issues, I have no problem with Win 8. It works nicely on a touch screen and is useable on the desktop with mouse. Once I solve the slow graphics problem in my software, I'll be a happy camper.
