GeneralElectrical schematic for variable color Sims costume PinmemberGregory.Gadow28-Jul-13 19:24
I'm hoping some of the geeks here can point me in the right direction.

A friend of mine wants a Sims costume for Halloween: basically, just a headband that supports a plumbob over her head. She's found a pattern for making one out of paper, pipecleaner and a plastic hairband, but I want her to have something cooler.

Imagine a plumbob of frosted paper -- I think tracing paper should have a good balance of structure and translucence -- with some red and green LEDs inside. The LEDs are controlled by a device in her pocket, so that the plumbob can be green, yellow or red. Something dimmable with a potentiometer would be great, but a tri-state button will work too, to cycle between the three colors (dimmable LEDs might be out of my price range.)

I can buy the parts, and I have the know-how for constructing the circuit from a schematic. What I need is the schematic itself: I'm much better at soldering than designing. Where can I find that?
