Welcome to the Lounge

For lazing about and discussing anything in a software developer's life that takes your fancy except programming questions.

Technical discussions are encouraged, but click here to ask your programming question.

The Lounge is rated PG. If you're about to post something you wouldn't want your kid sister to read then don't post it. No flame wars, no abusive conduct, no programming questions and please don't post ads.

She seems to think we (they) are only a few years a way from making this a reality. They have been able to power phones, laptops, and even a TV. They are currently working on automobiles. They envision homes with no outlets as the coils will be embedded into the framing. Whether they can make it happen at the speed they seem to think (very soon) it is remarkable either way.

I just can't imagine the high amp devices like vacuums etc. though. But if the design of devices was changed to more like a car (holds the charge) it could work. Not sure if that is how they are approaching it or not. Very cool though.
Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet.

The interesting thing about software is it can not reproduce, until it can.
