They finally came to their senses and went back to printing BLACK text on the CD labels. I can actually read what they say now.

What, he's finally old enough to drive?
Happy Birthday, Nick! And remember that "old" is a very subjective term.

I figured that a little heads up on what our priorities are for the next few days will help ease the 'why haven't you <insert action request> emails.
- Article submissions: There is a *huge* article submission backlog. There is also a *huge* list of people who have volunteered to become editors. I will be working on introducing one list to the other list and hoping that the world as we know it becomes a better place.
- "Why can't I sign in emails" and "I forgot my password emails". Please see the FAQ. If none of this works and you've emailed me then I'll get back to you this week. Those for whom the password retrieval isn't working may be a victim of DNS issues. Some domains are bouncing back our emails.
- New Servers. We have 2 new webservers I'll be adding to the cluster this week. That will bring us double digits in terms of how many servers we run. Yikes.
- Bugs, fixes, broken links. Never ending, but part of the fun.
- New stuff (RSS feed, fun stuff for the lounge etc). I've been tinkering and will try and get some of this installed this weekend.
- Sleep. Subject to availability.
cheers, Chris Maunder

OK, I see your catching the RSS bug. I've quarantined myself for now but I assume someday I'll have to try it.
Anyway, as for the lounge goodies, when is anything more gonna be done on the latest.asmx webservice? Some ideas could be querying for a particular forum, say the C# forum, as well as a thread size return for a specified thread. Just to make life more interesting for anyone planning to use it.

Yeah...and I hear a lot of them know C# too...so the WebService development could be taken up by one of them.

I remember you said quite a few months ago that you have something cool planned (cooler than a CD containing all of CP content, as you said, but you didn't tell us what it was). So did it pass without me noticing it or have you dropped the idea or is it going to happen in the future? Whatever it was, what was it?

His "something cool planned" was to have two weeks rest down under. Best thing he could have done for all of us

I remember someone asked whether we could get a CD with all of CP content on it. Chris said he had something "cool planned", but it'll take a few months, and he was not going to "spill the beans" just yet. So I was just curious what it was.
For details, go here[^]. I can't open it for some wierd reason, I always get an error page, but you can try. And read Chris' response below too.

So is there any chance of it happening in the future? If not, can you tell what it was? Inclusion of the best CP articles in MSDN? I guess you won't want to tell what it was just now.

Rohit Sinha

I guess in future sometime we might be using CP from withing VS.net through communities option or something similar to that. This feature is kind of there in webmatrix which I believe would be taken further and if it happens CP would be a major part of it. Ok, its all my speculation, only Chris knows whats the actual stuff, so until you get the actual words from horse's mouth we can play the guessing game
Your sig real neat, I really like animation

RSS is a grammar for XML most commonly seen in the blogging field. You can read about it here: http://backend.userland.com/rss/[^]
Basically it's a standard way of describing news items. The coolest thing about this though is that, because RSS is a standard, aggregators (news readers, basically), can download and parse out that information. You can find some of the top aggregators here: http://www.hebig.org/blogs/archives/main/000877.php[^]
My personal favorite is SharpReader[^], although Taka will disagree with me and claim that his Awasu[^] is better. (It isn't. You have no clue how handy the threaded view is in SharpReader. I don't know how I lived without it.)
What you can do is download SharpReader, navigate (in SharpReader) to http://dotnetweblogs.com/Rss.aspx[^], and click on the Subscribe button. In a few seconds (depending on connection speed), you'll see a bunch of blog entries pop into view, you can then click on them and see what people are saying. Each blogger on .NET Weblogs has their own RSS feed (i.e. Sam Gentile[^], Scott Guthrie[^], and Yours truly[^]). Because SharpReader supports RSS AutoDiscovery, you can navigate to any one of those blogs and hit the subscribe button, it'll find the RSS feed for you.
Hope that clarifies things.

Though I prefer SharpReader too, another interesting aggregator is Syndirella[^], thought the author[^] (Dmitry Jemerov[^]) has announced to give up the development.
BTW, one thing that's really missing in the weblogs is the clickety policy Hopefully, they will include it in RSS 2

I was one of the early(and I mean really early) users of Syndirella. I've switched to SharpReader because 1)Dmitry is giving up, 2)that threaded thingy in SharpReader, and 3)SharpReader's support for the IBlogThis Interface[^] (As mentioned, I have a blog on .NETWeblogs, and the plugin that Scott released takes advantage of this interface. It's supremely cool. )
