Very well, thanks for asking.
Currently writing an article I wish I'll publish here this week (got a sudden insipration few hours ago). The text and idea are quite clear but these darn fingers are so slow
How about you?

Doing swell. It's my birthday today. Woohoo. Spending it working on a new marketing campaign for my consulting business, and contemplating another slice of cake

I think I'll hit the bed. It's almost midnight here so very soon I'm going to babble nonsense and can't remember it correctly after few minutes (I really like those quotes)

Yep. Go to my profile page, and there are plenty of others I've collected over the years. Karl has an old one that was really funny about weddings and funerals (here it is[^].)

Hi Mika,
I have posted a problem just now.
Can you just take a look over it.
Thanx.

Mika
Did you get am email from me concerning the collaboration idea you proposed. I just realised I have sent 3 emails via CP and not got a reply from any of them. I have a suspicion that the email option may not be working.

No I didn't. Few days ago I also tried to send a message to myself using CP with no luck. Would you like to post it on Site Bugs?
Anyway, do you have an idea how we could trade email addresses. I'm not very keen on the idea that either of us put it for viewing on this (or any other) site. I did that mistake once and oh boy the amount messages what pills I should instantly start using, what great business opportunities I'm missing etc...

I heep a hotmail.com eamil for this exact reason. Send it to critsoft@ -with- hotmail.com. I can't access it from work but will pick it up tonight and reply with a more appropriate address.

That was a bug in CP system. I had reported that in Site bugs forum.
I still remember the way you had helped through my first ever decent stored procedure. Here is a link[^] to it. Thanks a lot once again.

I agree. Should've been DAMVPABTWARNG... Oh, you don't know? Definitely A Most Valuable Professional And By The Way A Really Nice Guy
d@nish wrote: I still remember the way you had helped through my first ever decent stored procedure
It was my pleasure. I do believe that the positive attitude this site has (and always has had) is making it far better than anything else. Surely technical information can be shared everywhere but it's a bit different situation when you feel welcome...
Again, nice to 'see' you all!

I thought I should take this out of the Lounge.
Getting the MVP was great but I don't have the time to sustain the effort. Chris has also change the format and the focus seems to be on the Q&A forums which I dislike.
We moved into Silvelight, you remember the database idea you floated, I built a code generator (always have had one) in SL but it won't work outside the firewall so I went back to winforms.

Yeah, good idea.
I know what you mean. Trying to maintain the status takes really a lots and lots of spare time...
I noticed that there are now kind of two separate forum mechanisms. Since I've used them for only few days I don't have a good opinion yet, but it feels like the messages are not so easy to find any more...
Ok, most likely the architecture in the db idea should be three-tiered in order to work correctly through firewall. Maybe I'll have a look at the idea again in the future but to be honest I'm afraid that I won't be having so much extra time since the project would be quite big. Perhaps when I'm retired

If you encounter problems or questions I advise to write a post to either Q&A section or into the forums. When writing the post try to be as specific as possible and to pinpoint your problem. This way you'll get the best assistance.

Hi,
You'll get a bunch of good suggestions for WPF books if you ask this question in Q&A forum. In addition to my suggestion you'll get other peoples opinions also when posting the question there.

Hi Mika
THANK YOU!
I am using WPF and you caan see that I am able to get the value of studentID without using output clause.
Why is this not working as it would work in Windows Forms Application.
Private Sub PaymentDataGrid_CurrentCellChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
SavePayment()
End Sub
Private Sub StudentsDataGrid_RowEditEnding(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Controls.DataGridRowEditEndingEventArgs) Handles StudentsDataGrid.RowEditEnding
Dim item As DataRowView = CType(e.Row.Item, System.Data.DataRowView)
Dim stu As dsMain.StudentsRow = item.Row
Dim row As DataGridRow = e.Row
Dim N_Cell As TextBlock = CType(C_Name.GetCellContent(e.Row), TextBlock)
Dim FN_Cell As TextBlock = CType(C_FName.GetCellContent(e.Row), TextBlock)
Dim GFN_Cell As TextBlock = CType(C_GFName.GetCellContent(e.Row), TextBlock)
Dim RGN_Cell As TextBlock = CType(C_Reg.GetCellContent(e.Row), TextBlock)
Dim STN_Cell As TextBlock = CType(C_Stat.GetCellContent(e.Row), TextBlock)
stu.Name = N_Cell.Text
stu.FathersName = FN_Cell.Text
stu.GrandFathersName = GFN_Cell.Text
stu.Registeredfor = RGN_Cell.Text
stu.Status = STN_Cell.Text
item.EndEdit()
Dim dsm As New dsMain
Dim tas As Students.dsMainTableAdapters.StudentsTableAdapter = New Students.dsMainTableAdapters.StudentsTableAdapter()
tas.Update(ds_Main.Students)
Dim ID As Integer = stu.studentID
Dim cv As BindingListCollectionView
cv = CType(StudentsDataGrid.ItemsSource, BindingListCollectionView)
cv.Refresh()
item.CreateChildView("FK_Payment_Students")
End Sub

Hi,
Regarding to WPF, there's no difference compared to Forms. You're using the same framework functionality in both environments. However, if the problem is that you're not actually getting the data from the DataGrid, then WPF can be an affecting factor.
I think that the best way to get good answers and multiple opinions is to post this in the forums (as you did with the original question). This way lot's of people see the question and can add solutions and guidance
Best regards,
