Hello
I have writen a basic session - notification timeout script that `n register to a page using a single static class located in the App_Code folder.
My page layout is as follows:
1) I have a Default.aspx page which contains Telerik rad - splitters etc. The notification is placed on this page and the script - timer is registered to the page. I want the to display thereby notifying the user that there session is about to expire. If `n apply the afore - mentioned method to any other page which does not contain a page - layout such as this, then everything works fine. I have thought about applying a CSS file to the "Master - page" and dynamically creating the message using Jscript. The problem however is that this wont work since I need the alert to be dynamic. How can I get the alert - to display to the user? Thank you ChristiaanS

I am developing an online test application that lets users take online tests in a class room. During the duration of the test ( ie when the particular test portal is active ) I wish to disable some of the functionality in the browser like the Print, Save, Save As menus as well as prevent opening of new browser windows. The only way to use this functionality after the test is started is by pressing the "Submit" button that indicates the completion of the test and return to normal browser usage. Please can anyone help me with ideas on how that can be made possible. thanX

If you have access to the physical machines, you can lock them down: disable printing, saving files to disk, throw IE in "kiosk" mode... You can do this, because at that point they are effectively your machines.
If you want to do this on other people's machines, via a web page, then you're barking up the wrong tree. They're not your machines, and so you don't get to have that kind of control over them.

I would like to find distance between two addresses using google/map.live. How this can be done silently from my application? My application is desktop application, but connected to internet. If it can be done with ASP.NET. I am using C# for my application. Any idea?

Plz help
i have buttons like homepage, about us, ... on Master page and want not to get master page refreshed when any of these buttons is clicked. is there any way for it. im trying to do it by the use of usercontrols but then i face problem of passing value through querystring.

Why exactly would you not want the pages to refresh? This is how the majority of the internet works.

Hi all,
i am working on mobile application , but the thing is in my application userinterface is developed in objective c ,for retrieving data from database for this purpose they want web methods , so we developed webmethods ,after deploying this webservice application we are giving that url, so they created proxy so they are using ,requirement is if anybody capture the url means we will get problem, i searched in google all examples are with username and password , but the requirement is without providing any username and password we need to give security for our web service. how to do this
anybody have idea can u please give me idea

Well, the topic pretty much sums it up.
I have an EXE(On the Server) that creates a text document(Also on the Server depending on parameters that are sent to it.
I'm trying to find a way to execute it (I have set permissions) from my .asp page depending on what parameters the user inputs.
I've tried Googling, but pretty much every result Involving the words "Run" and "VBScript" end off with WScript examples running off of local machines...
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!

Are you sure you're not confusing your clients and your servers here? Where is your asp(x) application running, if not on the same server as your .exe?

Let me rephrase slightly 
The EXE is in the same folder (On the Server) as the .asp File.
I'm trying to find a way for the person browsing the .asp file (On their OWN Browser) to execute the EXE (On the Server - So that it runs on the Server)
I hope that clarifies my question

Yes, but, but... as asp page runs on the server, before sending plain HTML down to the client on their browser. It does not run on the client machine. This is the whole point of server-side scripting....

Well, since it runs on the server, should it not be able to execute a file? I don't want the client to have any interaction with the exe - It must all be server-side (By the page itself) - Or am I missing something...

well, one of us is. By default, for security reasons, you cannot run executables, but if you have access to the server and can set the appropriate permissions then there are ways, as your Google search has turned up.
But the idea of an asp(x) page is that your scripts are executed on the server - the client may not even have the capability to run scripts. If you run an asp page then do a "view source" in your browser and look at the page source, all you will see is plain HTML. The client has requested the page, the server has executed your asp code, and returned plain HTML to the browser. If you have set the right permissions, you should be able to run an exe on the server during this process.

your exe and your asp pages are on the same machine, ergo local...
