Rather hard to do. Nowadays, programs can copy even bad blocks.
I haven't heard about the cd that could not be copied. It is just
a matter of proper cd copy program.
The strong protection, is (that's my opinion) hardware key.
The best protection, is to make many small protections and checks
(each one different) in many places in Your app.
For games, such protection routines can be launched every few stages.

Does anyone know of a way to be notified when a file is checked-in? When I need a file that someone else has checked-out, I want to tell SS to notify me when the file is checked-in.

If I need a file that is check-out for another developer, I Call him and I say him: -Please, let me know when the file is Free...
Is a little joke, but I don't believe that the sourcafe has this functionality.

As a team leader, I actually prefer things working this way since it encourages communication between developers and people get an idea of what others are working on. In a larger environment, it would be more of a problem.
We have written heaps of tools in Python that parse the activity log - it would be easy to write a little service that watches for check-ins and sends an email or something when a file you want has become available.

Doesn't SourceSafe give multicheckout functionality?
Merge is automatic too (though results always should be checked...) - it is good to make merges locally.

When you minimize an entire application a great part of it's memory is decommited back to the system (You can check this with the taskmanager)... Does anyone know how to do this inside an application without minimizing it...

Predrawn commonly used items such as tables and baths should be provided for the user to select and position. Rooms should be identified with textual information.
When the floor plan is complete, the walls should be grown to full size and the user should be allowed to resize the walls, windows and doors. The user should be shown different styles of roof and given the opportunity to control the height.
The user should then allow to rotate the house around the x and y axes.

I need to create a read only richedit control, the control will be populated and may have a scroll bar, but I do not want it to receive focus (or any other way of making the text read only you can think of!)

You need to use the IISAdmin interface - CLSID_MSAdminBase
Put the calls to this into a DLL and call the functions int he DLL from your install script.
