This has come up a few times after I look at an Article and tell the OP it would be better as a Tip, and I don't know how to answer.
Is there an easy way to convert an Article to a Tip and vice versa before it is approved? Or do they have to copy and paste?
Ideological Purity is no substitute for being able to stick your thumb down a pipe to stop the water
When I upload it and the article is published (Bird, a New Optimal Language[^]), there are two file with the same name, and it writes that it has been replaced by another file, and can't download it. I tried to delete it, but doesn't worked. Is there a way to make it work? I used an external link for the last 3 previous versions.
I removed the link to the external file and clicked the "insert download links" button at the top of the downloads list in the editor and the link to your download was added nicely. I'll get Elina to see why the old copy of the download is still sitting there.
I fixed the link to the newest source on your latest version
(Bird, a New Optimal Language [^].
I did that by fixing the link in HTML mode.
It seems, that we have a bug in the way we insert links.
Looking into it now.
BTW, I left your article in composing status. If you want to publish it, simply uncheck the "work in progress" checkbox on article edit page.
Or, if you wish, I can change the status for you.
Two files should not be a problem, but because of the bug (fixing it now) old version of your download appeared.
I fixed it now and you article is now published.
Please, take a look and let me know if everything is fine.
If not, we will be happy to fix it.
I made an update again, but the old version was downloaded and pictures wasn't shown (it worked in the preview mode, "anonymuslang\" was removed from links automatically as I see), so I made an update again and reuploaded the file, but now it doesn't download and I also couldn't fix the picture problem.
I usually save it to my computer and when it's done I copy and paste it to the editor. I'm using Chrome, but haven't tried it with another yet. If this could be a problem I can try to use another for the next update. Unless it works I'll probably need help.
I was editing the article below when I noticed that there were 2 source.zip which are dated 3rd May 2012 and 1st Oct 2008. Because the online editor does not allow me to update the article due to an unknown key collision, I proceeded to delete the source.zip dated 3rd May 2012 which is not uploaded by me, the online editor deleted the the source.zip dated 1st Oct 2008 as well. Is that any way to retrieve back my source code download? I do not have the source code on my new PC and the same article on Codeguru does not have the source code download as well (encounter 404).
I cannot upload zipped files, jpg and png images to my new article using online editor. The error message is "Unexpected error during upload. One or more files may not have been uploaded.". I may have to email Sean the files for him to upload on my behalf. :(
And I have done so. On occassion this error pops up, but in this case I think it might have been a simultaneous uploading of three images that were beyond 640 pixel width in addition to files. It gave the article editor too much to think about and she overloaded
Sometimes when I've voted <= 3 on an article I've just used the "Add reason or comment to your vote" for the required comment.
How can I go back and see those comments later?
They do not show in the discussion on the article.
They DO show as entries in my Latest Messages list, but following the link just returns to the article page which doesn't show these comments.
Is it a setting of mine that hides them?
PS. I didn't see a forum for issues about the discussions/voting...
