I'm posting this in the right place. Anyone interested in a 10m member CP meetup?

Original Lounge thread (Yep, accidentally posted in the wrong forum) here[^]
Quotation: After I asked our beloved CP staff if there will be a meetup in the Switzerland area, too, I got offered to organize one as country lead.
Now that I know that there are not too many members from switzerland in here comes my question:
Who of you guys may wants to join in in a meetup, probably around August 31st ?
I'll look for a place to have the meetup, probably in Zug, Rotkreuz, Zurich or Lucerne depending on the attendees preferences.
See http://cpcentraleuropeswitzerlandmeetup2013.eventbrite.com/ [^] to get the the latest updates
modified yesterday.

Would like to join; I'm from Karlsruhe and could pick up one or two people.
Are you sure you meant JUNE 27th ? (Because that is a thursday ...)

It is not a fixed date yet - I have out it up because Sean Ewington mentioned it.

Klaus-Werner,
I have updated the event and changed the date to August 31st - See the Original post for details.

Any update ?

Zurich at August 31st seems to be fixed (Kennedy's Irish pub[^] is a possible location) - Car parking in the City is difficult to find, therefore I recommend you to park your car at the airport Zurich and take the train to Zurich Hauptbahnhof/Central Station - Kennedy's is about 10 minutes from there, by foot.

... August ? Was that not June first place ? You guys plan as my development team do ?
Ok, settled for August 31st. At what time does the rejoicing start ?

I am trying to see if there are enough CPians in Central Ohio (or nearby cities) to do a meetup in or around Columbus this month. If we do have one, it will be officially backed by CodeProject.
Gary, I know you are in Dayton. I assume there must be a few CPians in Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, Cleveland, Akron, Toledo etc.
A tentative idea is to meet for food/beer and discuss technology, maybe have 2-3 mini tech sessions. If you guys are interested, please reply back to this thread. Thanks.
You can either reply there or here. Thanks.

Ok, I'll put my reply here as well. This is probably the thread I'll be watching. If enough people are going to show, I would be willing to make the drive.
If it moves, compile it

I'm in Cincinnati and could definitely make the drive up to Columbus.

Dear Brazilian folks, we are arranging a meeting for the I CPUG Brazil (Code Project User Group) at the end of June 2013 in the City of São Paulo, as part of the worldwide celebrations for the 10 million members mark achieved by the Code Project community.
So far the topics, the exact place and date/time are still not defined, and that depends on the number of atendees.
Please leave a comment in this thread (you can write in Portuguese here) to manifest your interest in the event. I think it will be important to create a Code Project users community in Brazil. This will be our first meeting, and hopefully more will come. Thanks a lot!
There's no free lunch. Let's wait for the dinner.
Take a look at Social News here in The Code Project.

Hi Marcelo,
Sure I will be there!
Congrats.

I have been asked to arrange the meeting up to celebrate the 10 million members at the end of June. It will be in Newcastle or Durham depending on the preferences of attendees. It shall be a refined evening of debauchery, as befitting our happy community. Sign up below to indicate your willingness to attend, and location preference. We will arrange the date once we have numbers.

I will certainly try to attend health and finances permitting. Obviously the closer to Nottingham the better for me, Edinburgh is also good.

Well, if you can't hold it somewhere civilized...
Seriously, though, travelling that far north would take a day each way on our "wonderful" public transport system. Much as I love debauchery, that's a long way to go for an evening.

It would be great to do it, but a near 500 mile round trip to Newcastle and back for one evening.
I would be more up for it if we could do somewhere in Yorkshire as it is less of a journey for me

Based on the responses you got, it seems it's easier to organize these things in the UK than over here (more spread out)!

And good luck/best wishes for your meetup!

I read, with great interest, in the Lounge, today, about the possibility of regional celebrations of the impending incredible achievement by CP of reaching 10 million members; a date of June 27 was mentioned by Sean.
I am in Chiang Mai [^], the "central hub" of northern Thailand, approximately 400 kilometers north of Bangkok.
Transportation from Bangkok to Chiang Mai includes air (about an hour from boarding to deplaning), rail (11 to 14 hours), and bus (9-10 hours). Some international airlines do have direct flight to Chiang Mai: for example, Tiger Air flys direct from Singapore to Chiang Mai.
June, here, is on the cusp of the heavy-rains (monsoon) season, and, while heavy rain showers/storms are unpredictable, they are probable. High humidity, and high daytime temperatures (high 80's, low 90's F ... around 32 C), for June are the norm.
Unfortunately, the wonderful celebration of Chiang Mai's founding, the Inthakiin (city pillar aka "Tam Bun Khan Dok") festival (Bhahmanic, not Buddhist, origins), is in early June, June 5-12th.
I'm not sure how many CP members are in Thailand, or northern Thailand / Chiang Mai, but I am open to doing whatever I can to facilitate a meet in Chiang Mai, or Bangkok.
yours, Bill

Hi all. I just recently moved to Fayetteville, NC from Washington State, and also recently joined this meetup group. I'm a noobie programmer, and would really like to form a mentor / protege relationship with someone so that I can learn how to become a great programmer. I work shift work, usually from 530 to 530 (switching every three months from AM to PM) so it's pretty hard for me to get out to Raleigh for these meetups. Do any of you guys live close to Fayetteville or Hope Mills?

I'll be viewing the transit[^] Wednesday, both Tuesday and Wednesday nights are probably out since I want to keep them free in case I need to dodge clouds. An indecently early takeoff time the next morning likewise excludes Saturday night.
Saturday for lunch or the early afternoon would probably work best for me since it should minimize the jetlag problem (your evening == middle of my night); but I'm open for other options.
