A testament to Jelastic’s innovation is the fact that another Duke’s Choice Award Winner, Liquid Robotics, is using Jelastic as well. Liquid Robotics’ Chief Software Architect, Dr. James Gosling (“The Father of Java”), has chosen to use Jelastic for its stability, redundancy, scalability, time saving and survivability. As he put it, “I really like Jelastic… you don’t get a bare Linux machine… they actually take care of that and it works lovely… they can span multiple ISPs, multiple countries, multiple data centers, and that’s how I deal with my personal extreme paranoia of survivability.” With Jelastic, Gosling doesn’t have to worry about his robots being lost at sea; he can focus on the development and functionality of his applications and the work his ocean-going robots are doing: http://blog.jelastic.com/2012/08/23/james-gosling-father-of-java-loves-jelastic/
Before Jelastic, moving a Java application to the Cloud used to not only be a rather complex process, but it was a huge time waste for anyone wanting to deploy their applications to the Cloud, because most solutions required recoding and reworking applications to fit non-standard hosting platforms, creating lock-in and increasing the time it took to deploy an application. With Jelastic, this massive learning curve, time-waste and lock-in are eliminated. Jelastic’s standards-based platform can run virtually any Java application — in minutes, not hours. It is currently the only Java Cloud that provides true “smart scaling”: each app gets the resources it needs based on the number of requests that it is receiving, with no manual adjustments required. As loads increase or decrease, resources are automatically allocated, in real-time. With Jelastic, deploying applications to the Cloud is just easy.
“It a great honor and privilege to receive the “Oscar” of the Java world - The Duke’s Choice Award,” says Jelastic Founder and CEO Ruslan Synytsky. “In just one year, our company has changed the Cloud computing game by providing the first truly auto-scalable platform with no lock-in - available around the globe: US, Germany, UK, Russia and Japan. Our partners - like Parallels, NGINX, GlassFish, MariaDB and others - have been instrumental in helping us achieve this huge milestone. Our goals for the next year will be to increase the number of hosting providers that offer Jelastic around the world, continuing to improve our technology and, our biggest goal, to continue to make the life of the developer easier.”

Aspose Newsletter for October 2012 has now been published that highlights all the newly supported features offered in the recent releases of its JasperReports exporters, SQL Server rendering extensions, .NET, Java & SharePoint components. This month’s technical article shows saving DOC to Multipage TIFF with Aspose.Words for Java & a migration tip for saving VSD Files to Other Formats with VSTO or Aspose.Diagram. The video tutorial shows exporting Image to PSD with Aspose.Imaging for .NET.
In October 2011, we introduced Aspose.Imaging for .NET, an API for converting image files between formats and creating images. We are delighted to announce its first sibling, Aspose.Imaging for Java. The two products have the same features and save you lots of time when working with image files in your programs. To celebrate the release of Aspose.Imaging for Java, this month’s newsletter is themed around images. Aspose’s products have a host of image conversion and manipulation features. This month, we share how to save Microsoft Word documents to multipage TIFFs, export images to PSD with Aspose.Imaging and save Microsoft Visio diagrams to image formats with Aspose.Diagram. These are just some of the tasks that developers can perform with our products.
Product Spotlight: Aspose.Imaging
Aspose.Imaging lets software developers create, convert, draw and manage images, independently of image editors. Now available for .NET and Java, Aspose.Imaging saves you time and effort by letting you add image management features to your applications quickly. Technical Article – Saving DOC to Multipage TIFF with Aspose.Words for Java
Multipage TIFFs group several images into one file. Aspose.Words for Java lets developers save documents to TIFF with one line of code. If the document contains more than one page, a multipage TIFF is created automatically. It is possible to set compression, resolution and which of the document’s pages you want to save. Migration Tip – Saving VSD Files to Other Formats with VSTO or Aspose.Diagram for .NET
With Aspose.Diagram, you can work with Microsoft Visio files without Microsoft Office Automation. To share diagrams with colleagues who don’t have Microsoft Visio, or use diagrams in presentations, you’ll need to save diagrams to other file formats. You can do that with VSTO, of course, but we think you’ll agree that it is easier with Aspose.Diagram for .NET. Read the complete migration tip about Saving VSD Files to Other Formats.

This is a great feature that will reduce the cost and effort to convert C# Windows form application to java. CodePorting Engineers are currently upgrading C#2Java engine to take this idea further and make this feature more powerful for future desktop application. To start this feature CodePorting has successfully ported simple desktop application to java.
CodePorting is using Swing components instead of AWT to convert .Net forms to Java because it is easily convertible and provide wide range of features such as icons, pop-ups, tool-tips, and its plug-able look & feel makes it fit in any OS environment. C#2Java engine also converts form events to java. To accommodate this new feature, codeporting has enhanced the core, created some new Java library classes and updated the mappings files.

CodePorting C#2Java Application is a cloud based converter that has accomplished immense popularity because of its broad collection of supported C# language constructs. Its powerful engine parse and transforms thousand of C# souce code lines to java in few seconds.
CodePorting has recently imrpoved its C#2Java engine and now its capable of converting C# source code having delegates in it to java. In C# programming language, delegate is a form of type-safe function pointer which is mostly used for call backs and event listener. Unfortunately, there is no delegate construct in Java so while converting C# code to Java, C#2Java engine intelligently converts the delegates to interfaces with the invoke method call by auto generating required code.
Lets take an example of how codeporting engine converts C# delegates to java interfaces.
C# Code:
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System;
using System.Linq;
public class Delegate
{
public static void Main(string[> arg)
{
Del handler = DelegateMethod;
// Call the delegate.
handler("Hello World");
}
public delegate void Del(string message);
public static void DelegateMethod(string message)
{
Console.WriteLine(message);
}
}
Java Code:
// ********* THIS FILE IS AUTO PORTED FROM C# USING CODEPORTING.COM *********
public class Delegate
{
public static void main(String[> arg)
{
Del handler = new Del() {
public void invoke(String message) {
delegateMethod(message);
}};
// Call the delegate.
handler.invoke("Hello World");
}
public interface Del{
void invoke(String message);
}
public static void delegateMethod(String message)
{
System.out.printf(message);
}
}

WSO2 webinar on October 2, will examine how to extend SOA functionality by writing reusable business APIs and services
Palo Alto, CA – September 25, 2012 – Many traditional service-oriented architecture (SOA) and integration platforms enable rapid development, but they provide little support for collaboration, sharing and reuse. Additionally, SOA governance programs often fall short of encouraging consumer adoption, tracking service consumption, and illustrating business value. To help IT professionals address these concerns, WSO2 will present a webinar that examines how organizations can publish managed APIs (http://wso2.com/products/api-manager) for consumption and optimal business integration.
The one-hour technical session, “WSO2 Advantage – Promoting Service Re-use with API Management," is being held on Tuesday, October 2, at 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. PDT. For more information, visit http://wso2.org/library/webinars/2012/10/wso2-advantage-promoting-service-reuse-api-management.
The webinar will explore how to use the capabilities in WSO2 API Manager to publish APIs for consumption within an organization. Additionally, the session will examine best practices for:
· Establishing API manager and publisher roles to foster API adoption.
· Extending the service governance registry to encourage cross-team or cross-department communication, coordination and collaboration.
· Overcoming common SOA anti-patterns, such as “not invented here” (NIH) and “build, and build again” by using an API Store.
· Following an API roadmap focused on increasing service reuse and enhancing IT business value.
Leading the webinar will be Chris Haddad, WSO2 vice president of technology evangelism. Chris works closely with developers, architects, and C-level executives to increase WSO2 technology adoption, improve the middleware platform, and maximize customer value. Prior to joining WSO2, Chris led research teams as a research vice president at the Burton Group and Gartner advising Fortune 500 enterprise organizations and technology infrastructure vendors.
