Read my previous messgae:
"I would suspect that there are no rows which match your where condition.
As a result, FirstOrDefault will return a null, and you would get the error you describe."
If there are no rows that match, varGoodTransCount will be null, and varGoodTransCount.frequency will throw the exception when you try to use it.
