The series against NZ must have been a big reality-hit for him.

Gavaskar has always been one of his greatest supporters and friends, so when he stated the obvious too, it must have made Sachin think about his future and the best way to end his career elegantly.

True and I don't think he anyway mentioned that Sachin should retire but yeah his comments were for age issue.

Yeah that would be better but again if he do not perform well then he may pospone it further just to leave it on a high.

If he fails in 8 tests then he'd certainly get dropped given how he failed against the Kiwis too.

May not be in all test but may be in many.

He was trying everything to stay there but could not do so and was getting out in similar fashion.

Well if he wants to retire before getting dropped, his best chances would be at home. If he's missing straight balls in India, imagine how he'd do on green pitches in SA, England, or Australia.

True, but I am not seeing any chance of getting him axed. I don't think the selectors have the ball to do so, atleast in the current lot.

Yeah but 8 tests without a 100 may be the catalyst the selectors need to drop him. But I hope it won't come to that and that he scores 3-4 100s more and then retires when he's on a high.

Yes, the final is between Sri Lanka & West Indies on 7th October.
Aussies were kicked out of the tournament by West Indies... and kick was a hard one!

Lankans have the edge, they are playing at home, and WI may have peaked too soon today. Unlikely that Gayle will click again.

True.

True again. But, WI would not be an easy finalist.
I would give 60-40 in favor of SL for now.

I'd give them 70-30.

Today Watson failed, Gayle won.
In the final, it's going to be Gayle vs SL, but SL have more chance. And loved Gayle's comment on the post match presentation.

Yep. I liked it.

If it is batting game then.. or else good performances over all.

Yeah... a confident comment. Nice to hear.

WI really enjoying their game. It's really wonderful to see their celebration and dancing.

After a long time they are playing good. I would like to see them lift the cup - it will do good for WI cricket too.

I pick WI, actually I picked them long before. They are consistent and they are giving tough fight. SL does not have similar batting line up and I think if some one scores 170-200, SL cannot chase it down. Of course, with SL bowling level it will be difficult to score that.

Now I am afraid if they will win. We both picked WI and rarely our predictions are true.

Yup. To me, it looks like chasing will be a big pressure. Even 150 will be like 180 type score while chasing and 2-3 quick wickets in the start of chase will close the game.
Rama Krishna Vavilala wrote: Of course, with SL bowling level it will be difficult to score that.
If it's a wicket like SL Vs Pak, difficult. If it's like yesterday, possible.

With 206 to win... will Australia get it? (Warner already back to pavilion...)
