Why not use a web browser with a spellchecker built in such as Chrome?

I am using Chrome. It is correctly marking errors while I am typing in this editor. But it is not triggering in Article editor

You can write offline and once revised then post it in the editor

Well that's always an option. But I am wondering why CP editor doesn't support it? To be honest, CP editor is quite good with Auto saving and image resizing and anchor, linking. I am writing all articles in editor only.
Any specific reason to keep it disabled?

We;'re using the CKEditor and it as a SCAYT (spell check as you type) spell checker plugin but I've not had much success with getting it to work.

Hi Chris,
I'm running IE11 in the default "EDGE" mode. When replying to a post, I highlight text and click the quote button, I often get a "you didn't select any text" error.

I'm 38, and getting back into programming after a decade. I recently posted a question, and someone added the tag 'Homework' to my question.
It wasn't homework.
I think its wrong to have moderators wantonly apply whatever tags they want to people's content.
And sure, I may have moderators here tell me to beat it, scram, hit the road, and so on. But I've been on this site since 99, on another handle, and I don't remember Chris ever doing something like that.

You can see who did it (actually was the one who helped you out). In addition, if you don't like it, you can edit your question as well and delete it another time. It is not a "moderator" power

People get itchy trigger fingers given the number of spammers (or worse, number of people who demand help without putting any effort in for themselves) and so that can lead to collateral damage.

Dear Chris,
To be honest, I don't, for one, see how to avoid this sort of (small) thing from cropping up from time to time. I think moderators should be encouraged to add tags that are factually correct such as 'Java' or 'ArrayList' etc. but discouraged from adding tags that are based on opinions/not factual.
I like the idea that some forums have wherein any member can add 'Karma/<enter favorite="" term="" here=""> points' to anyone. If this sort of feature was implemented in your site, I would have withhold the points until the removal of the tag. Similarly, common questioners would give points for great answers etc.
Then again, any added complexity has its own downside as well... I'll leave all that to you!

I think you've actually seen the answer to this issue for yourself: you handled the issue intelligently and sensitively within the question and in the end you found some help and a solution. I wish more people would handle themselves with this aplomb.

Hi, I was just publishing a tip "First and last occurrence of day of week within a month using SQL" but when I hit the publish button I got the "Something bad happened". Now I cannot find it in my drafts nor anywhere else.
Could you see if it can be restored? From my point of view it's ready to be published.
I found the body text so it's quite easy to re-format it. I'll do that so don't worry about finding the draft...

I have got myself in the habit of always (well, nearly always  ) using Ctrl-A / Ctrl-C before I click submit on a long post of any sort.

For example this one here[^] may be legimite or it may be plagiarized from anoother source. However, now there's no possibility to send a message while the blog is in queue. Why is that? This works really well for articles and tips.

are not increasing, its been fixed for couple of days and when i click on them the points are displayed in the grid but my total points is not updating... any ideas why?

The CodeProject API returns 8921823 as my user ID, but my ID is actually 8966127.

If you look at the data returned for the v1/My/Profile call, you will see a property codeProjectMemberId. This is the value you were expecting. The UserId is a value that we use to identify users across our websites.

It would be nice if in forums one could expand all the children of a post when expanding it. Personally I often read the answer, answer to the answer and so on. So simultaneously expanding one "path" at a time would make this easier. Also when two posts in a chain are simultaneously open it would be easy to compare the texts.
Obviously this shouldn't replace the current mechanism which closes an open post at the time another is opened. This would just be an alternative.
